Amarah hadn't been born to sit a desk and take orders from some corporate-minded windbag with all the charms of a petrified turd.

She'd built Glamtastic from the ground up. While the salon was not quite as big as the Grooming Parlor, it was by far the most popular salon and spa to be found on the shores of Veta Lake.

Every hairstyle from Sacred Lands Traditional to Atebus Galactic Beehive could be dreamed and done within those four bubble-gum-pink walls. Stylists trained for a minimum of two years before they were allowed to work even basic haircuts. Specialists studied for six years and knew all 87 Centropolis Hot Hairdos. The salon carries a line of custom shampoos that can relieve any problems of hair or fur, plus additional lines that polish scales and metal skin. Products come in a variety of sizes and are made affordable so that every Subetan, regardless of status, can feel beautiful.

Manicure and pedicure stations are off to the left. Glam & Glitter Nail Polish is 100% cruelty free and comes in 32 unique shades. The patented Glim Glam Eraser can remove the polish without the use of harsh and smelly chemicals. Amarah could make enough to support herself on patents alone but her real passion is getting out on the floor and styling.

Today's customer is a little nervous. She's seen the style she wants to try in enough magazines but doesn't know if the look will suit her. Amarah can tell at a glance that this particular malticorn will rock her new look. She lets the customer know what's going on every step of the way, letting her peek in the mirror as often as she likes. Aqua highlights on twilight fur make a bold statement. The malticorn can't stop grinning at her reflection. She looks like her favorite rock star!

Amarah reads all the trade publications for updates on style and new techniques to master. She's well versed in cutting, styling and braiding. Highlights in anything from plain brown to neon galactic green are not a problem. She can make a wig look natural with a minor alteration here or there and her hair extensions and fur pieces are so realistic, even professional models for Subeautique frequently go to her for touch-ups.

Even more popular is the attached spa. This special section is a little more on the pricy end but well worth the cost. Customers happily luxuriate for a full day and always leave feeling beautiful.

Another customer is ready for the chair almost immediately. Amarah shares a knowing smile with the gossip-loving kumos Ms. Peachblossom. She would never partake in mean-spirited gossip but quite loves hearing about the silly shenanigans of the inhabitants of Centropolis.

She always takes an hour for lunch. Nutritious meals are her go-to but her break is much more about appearances than food intake. Whether she dines at the nearest cafe or the fresh and hip new salad bar two blocks over, she makes it a point to talk to Subetans on the street. Not all of them turn into customers but her memorable looks and winning smile often make an impression. (The business cards help as well.)

The second half of lunch is her personal time. She goes over her flawless fur with a literal fine-toothed comb so that not even one strand is out of place. Shari observes, her own tail-tip twitching. Amarah's minion is no less a style fanatic than her mistress. Shari adores having temporary patterns printed on her fur. She's partial to spirals and stars but sometimes goes even beyond these when she's feeling extra bold. One time, she even tried a plaid pattern!

Back on the floor for an afternoon of creating works of art with scissors and dye brushes. Amarah will sometimes fill in at the spa if there's a staff shortage but her afternoon is mostly reserved for those less fun business aspects. She goes over the books and re-orders any supplies that are low. She's quite the pro at getting the best deals on everything and never paying a cent over the worth of a product.

At the end of the day she oversees the closing of the shop and hears any questions or concerns from her employees. They know that she will actually listen to their suggestions and act on any that further the interests of Glamtastic. She's been voted one of Subeta's top ten small business owners for three years running.

Her condo is only one block away. She adores her beautiful view of the lake, forest and mountains that make Veta Lake such an iconic vacation destination. Though she adores the trendy styles that come out of Centropolis, she couldn't imagine life in the big city.
