He let out a big sigh as he let his hand drop to his lap. He looked down at the phone, in said hand. His two best friends were apparently too busy today to be with him. They probably figured that he would be too since all three of them had just moved to this place less than a week ago. Angel was well aware that he still had boxes to unpack and a bunch of stuff to find a place for in his new apartment but he was feeling restless. He couldn’t stand being cooped up in here for another minute, let alone another day. He got up from the chair and walked over to the glass doors separating him from the balcony, and beyond that, the outside world. Sliding the door open he then walked out onto the balcony and leaned against the railing. Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath he could feel the sun warming him. Opening his eyes again he looked out over the town. Despite not being a big city this place still had some buildings that could be considered skyscrapers, along with a more numerous amount of houses along the streets. He had no idea how many actually lived in this place but if he was to hazard a guess he’d probably say a couple of thousand people. One thing he did know was that the residents were an eclectic bunch. There were many different kinds of species living here, from humans and elves to dragons and all kinds of different animal people. Angel smiled. He, himself, could be counted among those animal people since he was a bipedal deer.

Minutes later he was walking along one of the streets. He didn’t have any specific location that he was heading for. He just wanted to wander around, figuring that it’d be a pretty good way to get to know the place. At least it would be a more dynamic and natural way of doing it. When they’d arrived here he and his friends had been offered guided tours of the town but all three of them had declined it. His friends wanted to get their apartments set up and Angel simply preferred to do it this way. Besides, if there was anything he wondered where it was he could always ask someone on the street.
Almost lost in thought he walked along leisurely looking at the people he passed by, saying hello absentmindedly if his eyes ever met theirs. But then...he stopped dead in his tracks. Further down the road was a guy, standing in the middle of a crossing. His sand colored fur looked perfect, and soft, in the sunlight. As the guy was looking around, seemingly lost, Angel spotted a long, thick braid of brunette hair that reached all the way down to just below his waist. Judging by the fur around his neck and lower part of his head Angel figured that it was a lion he was looking at. An absolutely gorgeous lion. The fact that he only had a long sarong-like skirt on that reached the ground wasn’t helping Angel’s situation at all. Or the fact that the guy had blue markings on his arms that made his eyes hungrily look up and down those muscled arms.
After what felt like an eternity of staring Angel shook his head before taking a deep breath and then heading over to what he could only describe as a vision of masculinity.
Being the deer that he was he couldn’t really sneak up on anyone when walking on a hard surface like asphalt. Not that he was trying to sneak. But as he was getting close to the lion, the guy turned around and looked at him. There was a kind of lost bewilderment in those piercing orangey yellow eyes.
-“Oh, I’m sorry. Am I in your way?” Angel could feel his short fur stand on end as he heard the lion speak. It was an almost rumbling deep voice with a tad bit of raspiness to it. That combined with how good this guy was looking was making it very hard for Angel to concentrate on anything other than just looking at him. After a few awkward seconds of silence he smiled at the big cat in front of him.
-“Not at all. I just thought you looked a bit lost and simply wanted to make sure that you were doing okay.”
-“Oh, really? Well, that’s very kind of you.” He rubbed the back of his neck in a sheepish kind of way. “And yeah, I am...very much lost.” He chuckled. Angel’s smile grew bigger.
-“So, you’re new here too? I’ve been here for like a week now but I haven’t really explored the town yet myself.”
-“Yeah, I...arrived yesterday.”
-“Really? Wow, you’re much newer to this place than me then.” He giggled happily. “Then why don’t we explore together? Who knows, maybe we’ll even become friends.”
-“Heh, I like the sound of that.” A heartwarming smile later he added. “I like the sound of both of those things.”
-“Oh, and I’m Angel by the way. Angel Brooks.”
-“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Angel. I’m Xinash.”

They spent the rest of the day wandering around town, talking the whole time. As it turned out they got along great, which made Angel very happy. They were now standing outside Angel’s apartment, about to say goodnight. Having had bad experiences with guys in the past Angel wasn’t very keen on letting things happen too quickly anymore but something about Xinash just made him forget all about that. All he wanted was for this wonderful day to continue and have Xinash stay the night with him. He bit his lip a bit before asking the question that was at the forefront of his mind.
-“I had a wonderful day today.” Xinash smiled at him and chuckled.
-“So did I. I’m really glad that we met.” There was that beautiful smile again.
-“It...doesn’t have to be over yet though.” Xinash looked a bit confused.
-“Um, what do you mean?” Angel touched Xinash’s arm lightly as he looked him straight in the eyes.
-“Would you...like to come in with me?” He leaned forward and gave his new lion friend a light kiss on the lips. Now Xinash looked even more confused.
-“What...was that?”
-“Um, a kiss.” He smiled sweetly. “I…really like you. A lot.”
-“But, we’re both...men...”
-“Why, yes. That’s the way I like it. But, I’m guessing you’ve never...tried it that way?”
-“No, I haven’t. That’s..not exactly something we did where I’m from.”
-“Well, if you come inside with me I’d be more than happy to be your guide.” And then he gave Xinash another kiss, this time a longer one. He was happy to notice that Xinash made no move to stop him.
