Lisha

The Trickster!

The ethereal Jollin watched from the lowest branch of an apple tree, pastel-colored fur sparkling slightly. If not for the fact she could control whether to be seen or not, she’d stand out like a sore thumb. But, thankfully, Lisha was invisible to her prey.

Perched in one of the many apple trees in the park, the cheeky spirit was on her daily hunt for prank victims. And, in a public place such as this, it was a perfect location. A few Subeteans sat on benches, jogged around the various paths, or simply strolled along the main cement walkway.

Her primary target at the moment was a blue Clawsion, the individual meandering below her. And…he was almost in position. A precise placement was of course essential; this was a two part prank after all.

The apple fell to the ground right in front of him, and the Subetean looking up-Just as the second apple lodged in his mouth. As he spat and sputtered, Lisha couldn’t help but giggle, still hidden in the boughs of the apple tree. Perfect!

The Clawsion finished spitting out the apple and then went on his way with an amused sigh, leaving Lisha to float down to a cobblestone path.
Who would she prank next?
Maybe send a bunch of leaves blowing over to someone?
Cause a cobweb to attack an unsuspecting jogger’s face?
Make a newspaper come alive and cover someone’s head?
Oh all the possibilities!

The Jollin’s eyes widened as a revelation hit the jovial spirit, a wide smile edging onto her face.
Why not….all of them!
For the next ten minutes, the occupants of the park had quite an eventful morning.

A pair of Chai were attacked by a whirlwind of leaves, sending them into a tizzy as the plant material stuck to their fur, leaving them wide eyed and startled. Afterwards, they dissolved into a few laughs, much to Lisha’s delight.

A jogging Terracoon let out a terrified scream as a spiderweb (minus the spider of course,) plastered itself across his face. Lisha couldn’t help but cackle as the jogger turned and ran, right into another one.
Scares were sometimes the best pranks…

The final prank was to a crimson Charlie who was reading a newspaper on a bench. The paper promptly started flapping as it plastered itself across his face, causing him to yank the offending item away with a horrified expression. After a few more times of the newspaper ‘coming alive’, the Charlie had shoved it under a briefcase and was glaring at it, prompting Lisha to gasp in mirth.
So. Perfect!

As she was leaving the park, she spotted a final target; a young cream-colored Anyu clutching a plushie with her mother. A harmless scary prank then; plenty of kids enjoyed them.

It was a simple matter to float over and move the small Cybill plushie slightly, causing the youngster to look down…
And the plushie promptly raised its arms, a soft ‘rawr’ that only the child could hear emanating from its beak.

There was the expected gasp as the child dropped the plushie, and then came the laughter-Lisha’s ears suddenly drooped as what most certainly was not laughter reached her attention. The Mother picked up the plushie and put it into her purse, the child wiping away tears as she continued to sniffle and cry.

The spirit’s glow faded slightly, the usual perky Jollin looking at the cement walkway sadly. That wasn’t what she wanted at all. Pranks were all meant in fun, not to make someone sad…

Her eyes narrowed as the ethereal being zipped after the child and mother; she wasn’t about to let things go on that note.
It was a simple matter to wait until the mother was talking to a friend, and to then lift the plushie out of the purse. Moving quickly, Lisha scooted the plushie into view at the child’s feet, the youngster now sitting on the grass. Before the child could cry out, Lisha guided the plushie to hug the small Anyu, a soft voice emanating from the soft toy’s beak once again.“I’m sorry.”
As only a forgiving child could, the Anyu let out a happy giggle and hugged the plushie, sending Lisha on her way. The Jollin zipped after two of the other targets where her pranks hadn’t ended in smiles or giggles; a business-suit clad Charlie and the jogging Terracoon.

The Charlie was indeed unsettled by the newspaper again- but on lifting it off the path from where it had fallen, he found a crisp bit of currency. As for the jogger, he tripped slightly, and caused him to notice a slushy vendor who was giving out free samples just ahead.
Floating away and watching the results of her work, Lisha’s ears perked up on seeing the smiles.
This was how pranks should end. With smiles and being happy.
With her new goal in mind, the sneaky spirit zipped off to make someone else’s day a bit more interesting;
And of course, a bit better.
