Ash-Ash has a minion!

Nothing feels as good as getting your body lined up just right for an afternoon nap. My paws are curled at the perfect angle and the surface of the desk where mum keeps her glowing picture box offers support in all the right places. I could lie here all week, if only mum would leave that pesky box alone.
She's giggling over the sound of my snoring as she walks in. Personally, I think I sound like a fierce tiger. Mum gives me the much less flattering description of a leaf blower.
She's always tapping on those keys. I don't know why making that click-clack sound pleases her so much, but I must remind her there are better ways for her to divide her attention, since my nap is ruined. She never can resist my attempts to be adorable. Who could? A gentle paw tap on the bridge of her nose earns me a smile and a kiss above my whiskers. One good kiss deserves another. mummy squeaks at the roughness of my tongue. I must remember that human skin is nowhere near as protective as the thick fur of a cat.
My hopes that this will be a brief interruption are dashed as Loco stalks into the room, securing the perimeter against invading dust bunnies. I mean really, there is nothing more frightening to be found or I would never take the risk of sleeping here. While I love my older brother dearly, he can be much too energetic.
Even Loco cannot hold up to the whirlwind that is Sam. Though he is barely more than a kitten, he has enough energy to rival a whole litter. Perhaps this would be a good time to take a little stroll. A very little stroll, one that will bring me to a more ideal sleeping spot.
Jazz catches me in the hallway, her paws full of supplies for the minions we are seeking to find homes for. If there is one cat I can't say no to, it is my littermate and little sister.
They have their own special little corral in the corner of the toy room. I keep them busy with a toy filled with minion nip as Jazz takes care of capturing and collaring each of the seven currently waiting for someone to come along and adopt them. Jazz has a soft spot for blob kitties and their relatives but I'm happy to see any minion move on to a new home. (Don't let that pest Missy tell you I'm biased toward feline minions. It isn't true, honestly!)
Working so hard surely deserves a good rest. Mum was good enough to order a pizza last night. I don't know what it is about those perfectly square boxes, but there is no better place to curl up and take a nap. I take care to turn my nose away from the garbage cans and settle in for what is sure to be the best sleep I've had all day.
It feels like only minutes later when a paw is prodding my side, though in truth the sun has set. Ziggy looks back over his shoulder with a sigh. "You'll want to move along now, Ash. Mother is about to start with the vacuum cleaner and then she'll be looking to take out the garbage."
Ugh! Why does mum insist on using that noisy, horrible thing? I give Ziggy a grateful mew and trot quickly in the direction of the hall closet.
I get tired of listening to the family giggling over my collection which is why I keep it hidden. What is so wrong about collecting action figures?
"Nice dolls, Ash. Maybe if you ask mummy nice enough she'll put you in a pink bonnet and join you for a tea party."
Missy can be such a hairball. She always manages to forget that I outweigh her by a good bit. I pin her to the floor with ease. "Say it or I swear I'll take a nap on top of you."
The sound of that awful vacuum makes me want to run and hide but I'm not letting her off so easy. She ceases to struggle at last. "All right. They're action figures. Get off of me you big lump!"
She leaves the room muttering under her breath. I give her time to turn the corner before I abandon all dignity and hurry to the safety of the bedroom. Not only does the pillow mum sleeps on offer a purr-fect location to lie down, it also serves to block the distant noise when I work it into shape with my paws.
The horror ends at last. I reluctantly leave what would be an ideal sleeping spot. It just isn't as good without mum there to snuggle up to. She is in the sitting room, skimming one of her crinkly magazines. Once again her attention is in the wrong place. It should be on me.
I give her foot a few gentle taps so she will pick me up. No use in making such effort to leap when mum serves as such a nice elevator. One extra-large pair of sad kitten eyes is all it takes. Cuteness wins the day once again as mum sets all other concerns aside to pet me.
