It started with a maze. There's the straight-forward two-dimensional way of thinking that most people instinctively do, and then there's the twisting, looping, three-dimensional way of thinking you need as an architect of dreams. Once Ayaworan figured out how to do the latter on instinct, she was finally able to master her craft.
No one could create mazes like she could. They would play with your perceptions so much that it was only when you thought you were finally going the right way that you were well and truly stuck. Her traps would loopback on you with such subtlety that you would think you were in a completely different spot than the one you started.
She never trapped anyone with ill intent, except once. A job went south and a man threatened her family. She created the biggest, most convoluted maze she'd ever conceived and then left him there. She still feels guilty about it from time to time, but then she thinks of her family and she knows she made the right decision.
Someday she thinks she'd like to retire to a maze of her own creation. She could create and build to her heart's content forever, if she wanted. Someday. For now, she has her day job, designing new mazes and executing them flawlessly. For now, that's all she needs.
