Beryline and her husbun were snuggling up in their little rabbit hole under the Sassafras tree. Beryline had cooked cinnamon carrots for dinner, and now the two bunnies were crawling into their bed, just big enough for the two of them. They had quilts a plenty, ensuring their little bun bums were warm. As Beryline began to doze off, her husbun poked her nose with his and asked,
"Bee, do you love me?" Beryline's nose wrinkled and her whiskers twitched, but then she smiled.
"Of course I do silly"
"Why?" he asked.
"Because you're wonderful." Her eyes sparkled in the little bit of light that found its way into their den, and her smile widened.
"But why?" He was unsatisfied with Beryline's answer.
"You make me feel safe" she replied.
"Safe from what?"
"Just yesterday you saved us from the garter snake that slithered into our house. That was scary." Beryline giggled.
"But that didn't really scare you, I could tell" her husbun said, "what are you afraid of?"
"Love can be scary, but you protect me from the fear it can bring. Our love does not scare me. That is why you are wonderful."
He kissed Beryline's forehead.
"Good," he said, then closed his eyes to join his wife in sleep.
