A young man sat on an old, broken dock over the lake, watching the sky change colors. He was bundled up in a hat and scarf, with thin gloves. A few animals skittered into their burrows, while the birds in the sky took to the trees. As everything grew silent, the stranger noticed not only more animals running to their homes frightened, but the villagers calling for their families to come inside. Confusion crossed his face, as he looked around to see any potential danger. But there was none.

He stood up to go back to the village, but quickly became distracted by the sky. The clouds seemed to have vanished, and as the sun fell behind the mountains the stars sparkled brightly. He had never seen so many. So distracted was he by the beautiful constellations above, that he was oblivious to the biting wind down below, tugging at his scarf, at his hat, his hands cold to the bone.

He only came back to himself when the wind stole away from him his hat, which flopped across the field. He chased after it, and upon catching it, he glanced back up to the sky. The wind blew his hair over his face, and he heard what sounded like a flag flapping in the distance. He turned around to see a violent snowstorm heading his way. It came out of nowhere. The clouds were growing every second, and it looked as though they were lead by some sort of winged creature. With every move of the wings the wind picked up, and the clouds grew larger.

Denying his instincts to seek shelter, he braced himself against the wind, watching the creature until it took the shape of a pegasus. "It couldn't be…" he mumbled. What he saw he always thought to be a myth. Just stories... told when you were a child to frighten you.

Blown off his feet, he decided now was the time to seek shelter, but he was no match for the speed of the storm. As the pegasus swooped low above the lake he noticed a tiny ice fairy dancing across the waves the equine's wings created, turning them to ice. Trails of it trickled across the lake as the fairy reached the shore. Everything she touched frosted over and glittered in the moonlight until the clouds had masked it.

The fairy ignored him as she sped by, the sound of her tiny wings flitting in the wind. The man stood up and ran in the direction of the village, and as he looked back to see how close the storm was, he knew he wouldn't make it. So he stopped and took in the sights, accepting that this storm, this pegasus, Boreal, will take his life.

It was beautiful and horrifying at the same time, for anyone who was lucky enough to see Boreal was in fact, unlucky, for they had no time afterwards to live to tell the tale as they never survived the storm. Boreal was a gorgeous creature, yet he was the one who would bring your death to you before your time's end. He was not one to pity, and he never spared a life, for if you were stupid enough to test your fate just for the slightest glimpse of him, you'd feel his wrath. Man or animal, he took the lives of anyone and anything that was in his sight. His storms lasted anywhere from weeks to months, and those who live on these lands know they have only minutes to take refuge in order to keep their lives.
