Burrow is a kiwi of the Little Spotted species, a little bird native to New Zealand. Kiwi are flightless birds and most are nocturnal -- you've happened to catch Burrow at dawn, he's about to go into his burrow for a well earned sleep! The kiwi belong to an ancient group of birds that can't fly called the ratites. Because of this, it is unknown how they arrived in New Zealand... let alone got onto Subeta!

A kiwi birds favourite food is the worm but they also eat berries, seeds and even some leaves. Burrow's been caught snacking on Kiwi Trifle and a few other goodies from time to time too! You can see some of these goodies in Burrow's little pile of Treasures to the right here. »

Kiwi have a certain quirkiness which evolved over millions of years of isolation from mammals. Their calls can be heard across the forest at both dusk and dawn to either call for family or mark their territory. Burrow's call is repetitive and very shrill.
