Life Excerpt
Keyon watched as the Kul Tiran ship made port at one of the piers of the Stormwind harbor. A lot of people were making their way down the gangplank, but he was on the lookout for a specific person. He didn't know why but for some reason he felt giddy, and nervous, about seeing his friend again. They had been apart for a couple of months now, ever since Keyon had to go back to Stormwind, but Norvin had promised that he'd make his way there, eventually, so that Keyon could repay the favor of having had Norvin show him around Boralus back when he’d had first arrived on Kul Tiras. Now it was Keyon's turn to be the guide, and show the old rogue around the beautiful city of Stormwind.
When he finally spotted his friend the old rogue had just started walking down the gangplank. He seemed to be talking to the female draenei that was walking behind him. Norvin was smiling and laughing as he walked, and the draenei seemed to be having a good time too. All Keyon knew was that now that he’d finally seen Norvin again he realized just how much he’d missed him during the past couple of months. He started to make his way along the pier, meeting the big rogue about halfway towards the ship. When Norvin noticed him an even bigger smile spread across his lips, then he said something to the draenei female that was now walking beside him, and then he hurried his steps a bit and when he was about two meters away from Keyon he exclaimed:
”Keyon!” As he closed the remaining distance between them he threw his arms around the young paladin’s waist and lifted him up into the air. Keyon didn’t really know how to react. He was both happy to see his friend, and seeing how happy Norvin was to see him as well, but at the same time he felt very self-conscious about being lifted up like this. He’d seen men do that with women, and children, before, but never to another grown man. All he could decide on doing about the situation was smile. “By the light, it’s so good to see you again!” As Norvin set Keyon down on the ground again he gave the paladin a regular hug as well. Thankfully Keyon wasn’t wearing any armor, otherwise it probably would have been a bit of an awkward thing to do. But now it felt…really nice. It wasn’t the first time that Norvin had hugged him since they’d first met, but this felt different. More…heartfelt? And caring.
”Well, you seem to have your hands full now, so I’ll just head off. See you around, Atherton!” The heavily accented voice of the draenei female seemed to break the two men out of the almost trance-like state they’d been in. Norvin released Keyon from the hug, but stayed really close to him as he looked at his new friend.
”I’m sure we will, Thelle. Say hi to your brother from me!” They both waved at each other as she made her way along the rest of the pier. Norvin then turned his attention back to Keyon.
”So, this is Stormwind then?” He looked up at the white stone walls and then around him at the rest of the harbor. “Not the biggest harbor I’ve ever seen, but then I’ve been spoiled by living in Boralus, haven’t I?” Noticing that Keyon seemed to take a slight bit of offense to the remark he quickly added, with a smile. “But I bet that the rest of the city is quite impressive though.” Keyon smiled.
”Maybe we should get you to an inn first. Then I’ll be happy to show you the entire city. And yes, it’s quite impressive.” Norvin gave him a slightly different kind of smile. One that had a hint of…mischievousness to it? Keyon was having trouble reading it properly.
”You’re going to make me stay at an inn? And here I thought that we were close enough that you’d let me stay…with you.” Keyon could feel his cheeks grow hotter, and he knew that he was probably red as a tomato right now.
”Wha…I…”
”Well?”
”I mean…I do have a place of my own but…” Norvin was looking at him expectantly.
”But what?”
”Well…There’s just one bed.” Norvin raised an eyebrow and put his arm around Keyon’s shoulders as they started to make their way out of the harbor..
”So? We’ll just have to share it, won’t we?” Keyon could feel his heart pounding harder. Was he suggesting what he thought he was? He was brought back to reality as Norvin ruffled the hair on the back of his head in a loving manner. “Don’t worry, friend. If things are moving too fast for your liking I can sleep on the floor.” He shrugged before adding. “Or, get a room at an inn.” He looked at Keyon with concern in his eyes. “I don’t mean to try to pressure you into anything. I…Well, I guess I’m just very excited to finally see you again.” Keyon smiled back at him.
”No, no, it’s alright. You’re not pressuring me at all. And you…you can definitely stay…at my place.” They were about to pass by an alley just then, Norvin smiled and with one swift and smooth movement he pulled Keyon with him into the alley where he turned Keyon around in order to push his back up against a wall and press himself up against the paladin. Keyon had taken a sudden deep breath as Norvin pulled him in there, and then he felt like he’d forgotten to take any breaths following that one. Now he found himself pressed up against a wall with his rogue friend so impossibly close. His…handsome, rogue friend. That was the last thought that passed through his mind before Norvin kissed him. Tenderly. After what felt like an eternity their lips parted, and Norvin smiled lovingly at him.
”You have no idea how long I’ve been wanting to do that.” Thinking back at how often the old rogue had complimented him in their everyday conversations Keyon suddenly realized that Norvin wasn’t kidding. He really had been wanting this for quite a while. He gave Norvin a warm smile.
”I think I just realized it, actually.” Norvin chuckled and shook his head before stepping back from him.
”So. How about that guided tour?” Keyon laughed.
”You’ll get you tour. But we really should have you leave those bags of yours first.” Norvin smiled.
”Well then, lead on to your humble abode then, my good sir.” Keyon shook his head as he chuckled at Norvin’s theatrics.
The two were now properly inseparable. They spent months on end traveling all around the Eastern Kingdoms, as well as the other continents of Azeroth. All the while growing closer and closer. As friends, but also so much more than that.
