Jekyll & Hyde
”Is this what you wanted, you foolish, foolish bird?!” He snaps the mask off with a snarl, blood flying into the air through gritted teeth. “Did you really save the day? Just look what you’ve done.” The aforementioned superhero, Gryphon, flies overhead, head swiveling around as he looked at the crumbling walls around them with fear. “This building is going to collapse with us in it.” His shoulders drop, lips twisting into a delighted, yet eerie grin. “A shame about my vessel, but it’s not like I’ll experience any pain.”
The griffin finally turns to him and cries with horror, startled as their eyes lock. Hyde finds that he doesn’t care why the griffin looks so scared, a part of him knows why, it's the first time he's unmasked himself in front of the hero, after all. He merely laughs before closing his eyes, submerging himself into the awaiting darkness.
”Ceaser!” He wakes up with heaving breath. He brings a hand up to his head, groaning in pain. Flashes of memories hit him like a ton of bricks, but he can’t put them in order. A fight? Blood? “Ceaser!” He recognizes that voice, but when he opens his eyes, he’s only greeted by darkness.
No, not darkness. Stars.
”Alisier?” He croaks, still unable to think clearly through his pounding headache. Suddenly familiar green eyes come into view and he frowns when he realizes they're full with unshed tears.
”Oh Cea.” Alisier sobs, pressing his forehead to his chest. “Why didn’t you tell me!?”
”H-huh?” He drops his hand to Alisier’s head, fingers tangling into his lover's golden curls. “Tell you what?”
”About t-that darkness living inside you.”
There was a time when Ceaser Romero just had stopped caring about the parasite inside of him. He'd shave in front of the mirror, ignoring his cackling reflection, who seemed to thrive on making him feel worthless. He'd show up to work, body screaming from exhaustion and pain that he didn't remember the experience of, and just...lets it go. He was tired of it all. He gave up control to Hyde more often than not, no longer able to see the point of fighting him.
What did he have to fight for anyway?
The answer, strangely enough, came in the form of the most beautiful florist he had ever laid eyes on.
Now, Ceaser had never been one to believe in love, but the moment their eyes met, he couldn't help but feel pulled towards him. "Good afternoon!" The florist had greeted him with a dazzling smile. "It's a beautiful day isn't it?"
"Yeah..." There was a faint thought of disgust at the other male's bright personality, but for once, Ceaser pushed it back.
"Ah! Are you looking for any particular flowers today?"
"Nah, just browsing."
"Well if you need any help, don't hesitate to call! My name's Alisier."
"Alisier." Ceaser repeated. He liked the way his name rolled off his tongue.
He ended up buying a few roses, and it was at the register when he realized he wanted to see the other man again.
"Do you want to grab some coffee sometime?" He had blurted out, ever the romantic. Their eyes had met and Alisier's smile, if possible, seemed to get even brighter. Something in Ceaser's stomach fluttered at the sight.
"I'd love to!"
And for the first time in months, Hyde didn't come out that night. Ceaser thought it was strange, but he was grateful for the reprieve. Little did he know that Hyde was merely observing everything in the background, watching as Alisier spoke up a storm.
Something about the other male bothered Hyde, something...familiar.
'My Jekyll? Happy? Well then, enjoy it while it lasts.'
