As a young Popoko, Emma loved hearing her mother pass down the Popoko legends and how they, as a species, came to inhabit Subeta.
The story goes that Popokos are a mysterious species hailing from Atebus. First impressions may have you screaming so cute. Looks can be deceiving - they aren't all fluffy adorable like they seem. No, they have a darker, mischievous and some what evil streak.
Emma would argue with you about this until you're blue in the face, however. "I know my own species", she would say. "Look at me, I wouldn't hurt a Fleyer." But then Emma is not your typical Popoko; no, she falls on the "nurture" side of the nature versus nurture debate.
Emma never wanted for a thing. Sapphires, jewellery, trinkets, clothing and even minions - Emma always had everything she needed and more. Don't be thinking that that made Emma a spoilt princess - okay, yes, she definitely was one - but she never acted like it. Her Popoko parents did something right and instilled good old fashion morals in the wee Popoko. In fact, Emma quite often paid things forward. People without food? Emma would share her Macarons. Someone cold? She would share her wrap with them. Emma did so many nice deeds that one day, the goddess herself, Shinwa, noticed Emma sharing her lunch with a pond full of hungry mallarchies and bestowed upon Emma a wonderful gift - that of Angelic wings.
