The morning after the electrical storm, Scorpius and Lily were walking about the grounds of Bartlett Manor checking for any damage. Lily stops and peers intently at the roof of the large manor.

“Scorpius, isn’t that the weather vane up there? It looks a bit, off.” Scorpius looks, sees the glint of bronze metal and something red blowing in the breeze behind it. He sighs heavily and shudders. “I guess I’ll go up there and see.”
“I thought you got rid of the bats in the attic?“ Lily inquires.
“I did.”
“So what’s wrong?”
“Now there are spiders.” With a final shudder Scorpius stoically walks off to the house.

Scorpius navigates his way through the cramped attic to the utility door that goes up to the roof. As he climbs out onto the roof he’s glad to see that the late morning sun has dried up most of the rain from the night before. If the slate had been wet, well, it was a long way down. Walking out across the roof he could now see more clearly what he and Lily had seen from the ground. Towards the edge of the roof where the old weather vane had been sat something metallic with what looked like a red sheet wrapped around it.

Scorpius carefully walks closer.

“Um, hello there?”
Slowly a metal Montre shaped head turns around to face Scorpius. The rest of him was still facing forward toward the edge of the roof.
“Wow. That’s, talent.” Scorpius is impressed as only a male could be. The metal Montre blinks with a definite click of his metal eyelids and they stare at each other for a moment. Scorpius blinks first.
“So, do you have a name?”
With a slight whirring sound it speaks.
“Clarke.”
Scorpius nods his head. “Clarke huh. Nice name.”
Clarke blinks again. “I can’t stand to fly. I’m not that naïve. I’m just out to find the better part of me.”
Scorpius raises an eyebrow. “Is that so? I’m kind of a “ground” person myself too. Nice, solid ground…” Scorpius looks towards the edge of the roof in front of them. While doing so he notices a green glowing rock next to Clarke. Scorpius nods towards the rock.
“That yours?”
Clarke turns his head slightly and tilts it towards the rock, his eyes soften as only a metal montre’s eyes can. “Lois.”
“Lois? Okay…” Scorpius begins to wonder.
Clarke slowly turns his head around again facing forward with the rest of his body, the red sheet flapping gently in the morning breeze.
“So, Clarke, you and Lois plan on staying up here?”
“I can’t stand to fly.”
“Yes. We established that.”
“I’m not that naïve.”
“I can tell.”
“Men weren’t meant to ride with clouds between their knees.”
“Yeah, well, there are definitely a lot of clouds up here.” Scorpius tries not to look down. “Well, if you’re okay with staying up here that’s plenty fine with me.” Scorpius looks at the odd pair and carefully walks back towards the door shaking his head.
“I’m only a man in a silly red sheet”
“That’s for sure.”

Scorpius silently vows to himself to never watch a Superman marathon during an electrical storm again. While climbing down the stairs he begins to hum then stops in mid step. “I definitely have to change my play list. And ask for the bats back.”
