The stars always hold the same destiny for me.

One day, I will be born. My mother will spend her life loving me, sheltering me, protecting me from a man who will eventually steal me away. I’ll look into his dark eyes, see his smile, and feel that familiar bond that has followed us for eons. Then he’ll whisk me away to the underworld where I’ll live by his side until death do us part. And then I will be born again, with no knowledge of my past life and doomed to repeat the same cycle over again. I hate destiny.

This existence—it’s a curse. Everyone else in the world gets to experience and forge their own paths, but mine has been walked through so many times my feet sink. It’s all thanks to her—my first life. The life that decided to break away from the chains of imprisonment, only to fall in love and be imprisoned once more. Persephone. The goddess of spring. Taken from the field of flowers by Hades, she eventually fell in love with the god and decided to stay with him in the underworld. Her mother, sorta understandably outraged by this, doomed the earth to barren landscape until her daughter would return.

The two lovers, worried about the existence of the humans that worshipped them, agreed that she should return to earth to sedate her mother. In a show of her strong bond to him, she took a few pomegranate seeds and ingested them. So she would always be able to return to him. And this worked—for a while. But in her mother’s mind her daughter was never the same. Her daughter was tainted. she was never going to be her little girl anymore. And she knew that if she couldn’t have her innocent daughter again, neither would he. She went to Hera, her sister, and together they brainstormed a way to make Hades pay. their grand idea was to steal her own daughter back, and when they were unable to reason with her they murdered the goddess in cold blood. from Persephone's corpse came a seed of a narcissus— a sign of her eternal love to the god of death. The seed eventually turned into a flower, and from that flower bloomed a child. a mortal child. demeter disguised herself as a human, and raised her daughter to be her obedient little pet. but, once Hades heard about the rebirth of his soulmate, he became desperate to regain her love. demeter and hades fought, and demeter vowed that as long as she existed he would never, ever break the curse.

And there you go. the game began. Overtime, the reincarnations began to lose all their memories… And eventually, it became that in every new life they had to relearn what I did. … So here we are. The present. To her newest form, Matthew Colomar. Me. i don't want to be just another life in an endless cycle. and i... I don’t want him to suffer anymore. I want to find a way to break this cycle and restore the original Persephone. Even if that means I have to go. But that’s okay, right? Because who i am, really?

PERSONALITY — matthew's bark is definitely worse than his bite. to those who don't know him, matthew is cold and quick to anger. he's not afraid of backing down from a fight, and is definitely the kind of person to scream profanities at authority figures. he greatly prefers the company of animals over people, and doesn't like to stay indoors too long. he's sarcastic and blunt, putting on one big bravado to scare people away. for those few who take the time to know him, he's much gentler than he let's on. he's loyal to a fault, and would do anything for the people he cares about. he's extremely insecure about himself. matthew is also constantly worried about the future and his place in it. despite being so openly vicious and wary of people, he's also extremely naive. say a few nice words to him and he'll be putty in your hands.
