I was just mining. I had to find some coal; I was so close to being out. And then. . .I heard it. Terror washed over me, and I could feel the color drain from my face. I panicked and began to rifle through my belongings, sweating profusely as I pulled out my flint and steel. I lit the stone in front of me and coughed, the smoke getting in my face.

I pulled out my journal and flipped through the pages, searching for my map. As I frantically looked for the best way out of the mine I heard it again. . .closer. I dropped my things and stood, shaking with fear. I picked up my flint and steel and lit another section of stone for temporary light. And there it was!

Even after I’d turned and began to run, I could feel those evil purple eyes staring hard at me. I ran and ran through the mine, fear taking over, as the monster’s sounds grew louder and louder. I finally hit the surface, grass! I was so close to being free! I could see my dog, but terror was in her eyes. She barked as the monster’s sounds grew even loud-
