From the dust of the earth our bodies are sustained, and in turn to the dust we must return. The flesh, the sinew, the meat, the bone, all return to the soil, giving back to the earth what was momentarily borrowed.
Though we grieve for the sound of their voice, for their scent that just barely lingers, for a face that becomes hazier with the passing seasons, no living thing can take without giving. This cycle must come to pass, it's the pact we made with the Green Mother when we took our first breath and greeted the sun that warmed our face for the very first time.
Living things are here but a brief time, a blink of an eye to the age of Green Mother, but when we finally return to her oh the stories we'll have to tell! She'll hold us close, in the warmth of her verdant earth, and listen to them all.
