As the self-appointed guard dog of the farm, she ran alongside the fence multiple times a day, every day. She checked on all of the animals, making sure they stayed away from the fence. She would give a gentle nip at their heels if they were too close or sticking their heads through the fence. Those silly animals.. why would they want to leave? Did they want a bite from an unfriendly predator?

Sometimes, she would guard at night. She didn't like that one bit. All sorts of animals would come out from the woods and into her farm. They had eerie glows around their bodies, and sometimes their eyes looked like they could burn through something. She kept an eye on the parts of the farm wherever they were not; they never attacked, they simply wandered around. As they never even approached the apple trees, the only things her owner tended to other than the animals, she had to accept their presence. She knew her owner would come outside in the morning and all would be well. After all, she would bring treats!

Although she wasn't the biggest fan of nighttime, she didn't enjoy daytime that much either. The wind would ruffle her fur and pull it all sorts of uncomfortable ways. Some days it was just too hot to have all that fur! She enjoyed spending time under the apple trees to stay out of the heat, but her patrolling took her into the hot sun. When she got too hot, her tolerance of the animals' interest in what lay behind the fence disappeared. She'd nip at them just for looking at the fence! Her grumpiness was an advantage when she had to protect her farm animals from daytime intruders like foxes. She had no problem dealing with familiar food thieves and hunters of the daytime.

Later on, she'd give a quick nuzzle to any animal she'd nipped as a way to say "sorry" for being grumpy earlier. Of course, this was after she'd cooled down in the shade, played some soccer with her owner, or chewed on some bones. Even corralling the cats of the farm, who would climb all over her, would cheer her up as long as they long as they were in the shade. She was always ecstatic when her owner carried her food bowl out and set it under an apple tree.
