Story
Important facts: Hendryk was born into a servant’s family that had devotedly tended to the gardens of a rich noble family for generations. He was very talented, and the old master of the noble family was therefore very generous and allowed Hendryk to study botany at the university.
But when the old master died, his cruel son inherited the land. He soon started to torment his gentle wife as well as his servants. Hendryk’s scar originates from that time. It was punishment for talking to the wife when, after several years of torment, she was desperate and asked Hendryk to kill her husband. After having refused her at first, he then decided to do as she asked. But due to an accident while he performed his dirty task in the midst of the night, he accidentally killed the wife as well. Haunted by the surprised, innocent look in her dead eyes, he still sometimes wakes up at night, drenched in sweat, and regrets what he did.
But in Asfalot’s garden, he found a shelter and he can feel peaceful at least during the day. He does a lot of research about plants, reads every botanical book he can find in Archibaldo’s library and breeds the most beautiful flowers among his other duties as gardener of Asfalot’s lands.
But at night, he buries Asfalot’s enemies beneath the thriving rose bushes...
