The oldest of the sisters was Kyrie. She stood tall, proud, and quiet. With a strong few words, she echoed the will of her beloved Eiya. She watched the Sixth Realm fall while at her side, helpless to intervene.
Eiya managed to save only one spirit of the world – the cherished Guardian Spirit, Anshu. As the great celestial wings wrapped around them in comfort, the spirits wept together.
Kyrie reveled in the mercy and grace of her lady. Her mind was nearly consumed with her servitude.
Her younger sister, Rubi, had more of a wandering eye. She immediately took to the displaced Anshu, who had taken up a new home in their sky. She learned of the Sixth Realm, and all the others that were known to exist…
“Earth”, it was called. All sorts of winged creatures populated it, though none were of the heavens.
“This one, I like.” said Anshu one day, taking the double wings of a brown moth. “So simple, and drawn to the light.”
Rubi found her own wings, though in brighter colors. “They match my hair,” she noted happily.
Kyrie began to resent her sister. She saw her casual friendship with Anshu, bothered that she dare act as an equal to a Guardian Spirit.
One day, she followed her to the world called Earth.
“You pine for another world, and even take one of its creatures for your own looks.” She saw her sister's colorful wings as a sign of arrogance.
“Sister,” Rubi began, spread her sunset wings. “Please, hear me and see the beauty of this world!”
refused. In rage she struck out at her sister with a beam of light that even Anshu could not block quickly enough.
Rubi's eyes were seared through, blinded immediately. She showed no reaction to the strike, instead only closing her broken eyes slowly.
Kyrie turned away, preparing to return to her sky. “Remain on this imperfect world as one of tis low creatures, if you wish.” she fumed, spreading her own great, white wings. “May you never gaze upon our true Lady again.”
The gravity of her acts hit her as the landed at her home, met by Eiya's sorrowful gaze.
“Oh, my Kyrie,” her voice sang out in grief. Slowly, her right eye closed.
“What have you done?”
