True to the stereotypes of his orcish heritage, Yorik has always been rather hot-blooded and fond of fighting. Nothing gets his blood going like a good fight and he's never been one to back down from a challenge. Tragically, this recklessness cut his life short, and he was killed after a brawl turned truly sour.

Fortunately, his closest friend, the healer Larissa, was able to resurrect him shortly after his body died; less fortunately, the revival was imperfect as well as illegal. Yorik regained his life but became tainted with a subtle undead aura, not hard to detect for sensitive or perceptive individuals. Larissa, meanwhile, became wanted for her public act of necromancy, and the two ended up fleeing their hometown -- though not before making a mess getting justice on the man responsible for what happened.

Yorik and Larissa now travel together, not quite sure what else to do after this massive twist of fate. Yorik harbors strong guilt over what happened and has become more protective of Larissa as a result, while also struggling to rein in his temper in order to keep a low profile. There is a part of him, though, that wonders why he should bother when they can never return to their previous lives anyway; that same part of him is also secretly, selfishly happy that it's now truly just him and Larissa against the world, and he isn't so obligated to try to fit into a society that has always rejected and feared him simply for his race.
