A tiny glow came from the baby underneath her chin. They already knew that she was destined to be special. She was the first Ji-Meneb child to be born in 250 years. Representatives from all the clans came from everywhere to gaze upon this wondrous sight. The light was emitting from a tiny crystal necklace. She had already been blessed by the healer Selina. Even Maleria lined up to see the little girl. Gifts were lain at the feet of her crib. Her parents, both nobility were beaming themselves, as though they had also had their own crystal nearby. There were other children about, but they were only half Ji-Meneb at the most. Long ago, a curse had fallen on the Darkside and their people could not procreate with each other. Some say it was because of the arrogance of the clans, but no matter the reason, the result was a crippling blow to their culture.

"I have named her Minimod," exclaimed her mother, "she is hope for our people!" Mini was instantly loved by all around her. Even had her parents not been well off before, they surely would have been now! She never was denied anything that she wanted...except for freedom. Being the hope for her people, really didn't allow her to travel or even meet people outside of the ones that her parents deemed worthy. As a result, she often got into trouble sneaking out and trying to be a normal kid. Most times she was caught within an hour, playing with the wild matter in a local park or even helping out Dr. Asmodeus with his strange concoctions. Her parents would confine her to her room for a day but quickly gave in once they saw her face.

When she was fifteen, she had a talk with her parents. What was her purpose? Was she an exhibit? Was she just a figurehead for hope or was she meant to really do something to help her people? With a sorrowful sigh, they realized that it was time for her to really grow up! As much as they loved their daughter and wanted to shelter her from harm, she had to be who she was fated to be. They brought out a dusty scroll and handed it to her. She didn't recognize the script but somehow the words jumped off the page and into her mind...making perfect sense. She was to travel to the Sacred Lands and seek the help of the blessed one. When she finished the scroll, the crystal necklace around her neck started to glow, brighter than it ever had, even on the day of her birth. She nodded and prepared for a long journey.

At the Port of Darkside, she boarded a huge luxury liner. She had very few belongings but was allowed to take one companion with her. She chose a cluster dark matter. It has always kept her company as a child and she felt very close to it. With a wave to her parents, she was off to explore an exciting new land. It took several weeks for her to arrive in Saherimos and a few days from the port there to reach the city where Selina lived. She was warmly welcomed by the healer and given a nice place of her own to live. There she studied the art of healing and also about diplomacy and the rules and regulations of the government. Selina said that the Hope of the Ji-Meneb must learn about the past and present so that the future is better.

At age nineteen, the Healer felt that Mini was ready. Ready to go out to the different lands and teach others what she had learned and help them find the way to true healing. She hoped that by doing this, the little girl with the glowing crystal would heal the lands and in turn break the curse on her people. And from that day forward, Minimod set off on a new journey...one that would take her to far off places. A journey of peace and happiness.
