He stood in the still, silent pond, waist-deep. There was a slight chill in the air, but it didn’t seem to bother him. His face was tipped up towards the purple and pink-streaked sky. His eyes were closed and there was a smirk on his lips. He slowly raised his arms up to chest height and touched his palms together, as if in prayer. The air seemed to hum, and a hushed excitement enveloped the pond. The long grass on the shore began to shiver and all along the surface of the pond, ripples appeared. He steadily raised his still clasped hands up over his head. The once indiscernible hum was now almost unbearable. He arched his back and threw open his arms with a great shout of laughter. Light burst from his fingertips and rained down upon the pond. The pond began to bubble and the air warmed. He slowly lowered his arms till his fingertips grazed the surface of the pond. He looked up at the now bright blue, cloudless sky and grinned. He turned and slowly waded back to the shore, stopping only to pick up the little Fion that waited patiently for him. The Fion scampered up his arm to snuggle against his neck. He smiled tenderly at him and the two of them made their way up the path, leaving the now bustling pond behind them.
