If anyone is reading this right now, then that means that I am most likely dead. Or I might have just lost this journal.. but it's probably the former.

The year is 2301, and the planet is pretty much destroyed. Those who were lucky were able to evacuate the planet and move onto a new one, but many of us were forced to stay behind and try to survive in these horrible conditions. Oxygen levels are almost nonexistent now, and the radiation from those damn bombs used in World War VI are killing us slowly. Those of us who have survived this far mainly live and travel alone or in small groups. We are all required to wear gas masks to keep us going.

We don't really have names anymore.. about 20 years before the evacuation we were given numbers that represented our identity. At this time I was two years old, and the number I was given was 11137623. But once most of the population evacuated, we didn't have a use for those numbers. Not remembering my birth name, I chose to be called Radiohead.

Cities all over the world are in ruins. The people who were left behind after the evacuation have grown to become hostile towards others, and almost everyone carries a weapon with them at all times. There are a few people, though, who have changed more than others. These people... I don't even think that they're human anymore. They're not like big scary monsters or anything, they're just.. not right. They roam the streets at night, armed and with the only intention of killing anyone they see. You can always tell when you run into one of these people, because their eyes have turned pitch black. I like to call them night crawlers.

Things have gotten worse in the past few weeks. The number of night crawlers has been steadily increasing. There's no way to survive through a night unless you literally barricade yourself in a building of some sort.
