Few would expect to find an immortal creature spending his days in the red light district. Perhaps that's why the nogitsune has made his home here; the last place on earth the virtuous would find him.
Roku is drawn to these filthy streets by the presence of the weak-minded and sinful: nowhere else does the mortal will crack and crumble as it does in the bordellos. The world-weary, the damaged, the adulterous and perverse - they find their way here looking to fill the void, if only for a while.
With any physical contact, he can submerge them in a realm of beautiful delusion and pleasure that encompasses all of the senses. While they are in this vulnerable state, Roku draws out a little of their energy for himself. Only a sip here and there - these are not the old days, when a fox could get away with murder.
Roku thoroughly enjoys the company of others, if only for his own (well-disguised) arrogance and self-gratification. He possesses a gentle charm that makes him easy to like, and avoids confrontation with an elegance that comes off as respectably passive, rather than meek. While unabashedly vain, and even a little narcissistic at times, he is never snide or condescending to others and rarely talks about himself.
Although he dislikes violence and conflict, he is not above either of them; it's not a matter of morality or personal belief, but because he finds these things tiresome. For all his tolerance and submission, he is vicious when cornered and has no mercy for those who threaten what belongs to him - be it material possessions, or the few people whose lives he finds a semblance of value in.
Roku is adept at manipulating others to get what he wants, and he can play the part of the victim, the hero, the whore - whatever is most favorable at the time. Most of his desires are simple and ephemeral; he enjoys the moment, the sensation, and although he has a love of beautiful things, he rarely feels the need to possess them. Roku's behavior comes off as frivolous and even shallow at times, but now and then his true sagacity shines through.
Can create masterful illusions that are hard to discern from reality. The willpower of the onlooker determines how much they can be manipulated - for the average mortal, the illusion is so real it can be smelled, tasted, and touched - stronger individuals will see only the visual. If Roku can make physical contact, he can entrance someone so fully that they can feel phantom pain - in the most extreme cases, this can result in death when the body truly believes itself to be traumatized. For the strongest-willed, this contact must be maintained for a long period of time.
He can instill terror or send a foe spiraling into temporary madness in this way, but he rarely does - Roku typically only uses his illusions to enthrall mortals in more pleasant ways, and only when his natural charisma fails him.
Using these powers for too long leaves him exhausted and frazzled, and he must be wary of exerting himself in a weakened state. If sickly or wounded, Roku's illusions can spiral out of control and affect his own mind and mental state along with others.
His true self is a great, six-tailed silver fox with a mask where its face should be. He is able to take the shape of a regular fox to be less conspicuous, though, and he can take on a few other animal forms as well (although not of colors varied from his own).
