So it's like this...

Define: Kotatsu: A kotatsu is a low, wooden table frame covered by a futon, or heavy blanket, upon which a table top sits. Underneath is a heat source, often built into the table itself.

This is my hiding place. Everyone has one. It's nothing new really. Mine just happens to be a table with a blanket over it. Is the fact that I keep a pile of manga, a torch, and a bag of jammie dodgers under there a sign that I haven't quite let go of my childhood yet? Let's not get into that right now shall we? All that aside, I just like my quite time, alone and very relaxed. I used to spend that time sitting at the kotatsu. Now I spend most of what little time I can manage hiding under it hoping no one will come looking for me for at least 30 minutes. An hour would be nice but I can't expect too much from this lot. What? You don't know who I'm talking about? Lucky you... It's them, my relatives. There are sooo many of them.

You may be wondering why so many of my relatives are living here with me. Actually, I'm wondering the same thing. See, when I was 19 I inherited this 200 plus year old manor out in the country. No big deal considering my family and all. Though considering my family, who have never been very sociable with one another, I never expected half of them to end up here. Kaido is an old friend from school and pays rent. It wasn’t a problem when he asked to stay. The electric bills here get pretty high for some reason... When my girl friend Lily asked to rent the old cottage I thought things were finally going to really move between us. Then my moody cousin Violette came, the completely shameless Ayamezuki, and a couple more relatives I didn't even know I had! I still need to talk to my parents about the squirt. How can I have a nephew if I'm an only child? So, you get the picture. I almost got rid of Violette once but not long after her wedding her husband ran off with a band of pirates and she came back. Since then it’s only become even crazier! Kaido’s wizard wannabe younger sister is now living here calling everyone “ignorant muggles”. Her parents are paying rent for her and they seemed really desperate when they asked about her staying. Ayame has taken an interest in her so maybe they’ll go run off to Scotland together and become fashionable Dark Lords or something. One could only hope. Oh, and then there’s Clarke. We’re not quite sure where he’s from. Thunderstorm, lightning, Super Man marathon. Yeah, that was a crazy day.

One of these days, I'll find some time for just me and Lily. One day. Maybe. Hopefully... But for now it's just me and the jammies, under the kotatsu.
