Danny was your average popoko. He liked climbing trees, chasing other popokos, and eating tasty food. There was one way he differed from others of his kind - he had a friend named Puppy, who just happened to be a ruffie. Other popokos generally avoided ruffies, thinking of them all as violent brutes. But Danny and Puppy had always gotten along splendidly.

One sunny afternoon they were deep inside a forest. Danny was digging frantically through a patch of soil. He could have sworn he'd buried a large acorn there a month ago. Puppy was digging her own hole a few feet way, but not because she was looking for anything. She just enjoyed sending showers of dirt into the air.

Finally, Danny found the prized acorn, and he held it up triumphantly for Puppy to see. It was heavier than he remembered. "See, I told you it was here all along." Puppy peered at the nut curiously and sniffed it. Her eyes widened. "Danny, I don't think that is just any acorn. It has a face."

Danny turned the acorn around and gasped. "Wow, you're right! What should we do with it?" Puppy thought for a moment. "Well, you can't eat it now, obviously. You should hide it somewhere safe, where no one else will look for it." "You're right," Danny agreed, "I know just where to put it."

He hopped onto Puppy's back and started burying the acorn in her fur! But the acorn fell out after a few seconds and dropped to the ground. "Oh well, it was worth a try. I'll carry it home and it will be fine there," Danny said. Puppy walked back with him to make sure no one tried to steal the acorn.

Danny decided to name his new friend Goober. Puppy likes to visit the two of them often, and they spend many happy hours together. Goober can't talk back but he seems to enjoy their company anyway.
