Rancher’s Log 1;
You see, humans had long conquered disease before my lifetime. We were living well into our hundreds with cures for anything that popped up. That's how we became complacent. So when a few scientists went up into space and brought back something we'd never seen before, it spread like wildfire across Earth. There was no medicine in our world that could cure the devastation that had been brought down upon us. They called it Replica, named after the speed in which the virus reproduced. It was a painful disease, and it killed 100% of the time. It wasn’t even a full year later after getting sick that my mother passed away.
After that, there was a mad rush for more scientists to get out into space to find clues on a cure. That's where the Rancher Initiative began. 7Zee CORP began plucking freshly graduated students off the streets to train them, for they believed that the answers could be found on one of the galaxies many planets. Alien creatures called Slimes were the ‘most likely’ way to find a cure, their digestive plorts containing many useful traits. Researchers had already found a use for them as things like fertilizer with miraculous grow times, and invisibility cloaking, so then why couldn't we find something to cure ourselves using these creatures?
I signed up. I had already been working for 7Zee Corp so the switch wasn't difficult. I wasn't entirely sure we'd find the cure, but I couldn't stand to be on Earth any longer. I couldn't sit around watching people die anymore, and if I were to get sick, well, I wouldn't let someone else watch me die either.
After five years, I'm finally done with my training program and I was launched into space to a small planet called Teva. My goal is to document every possible thing I can about all Slime lifeforms on the planet, and to send samples back to Earth for testing. I’m trying to move forward, so maybe finally being here will keep my mind off the inevitable.

Rancher’s Log 28;
7Zee CORP was really pleased when I'd found it and I can't say I'm disappointed either. It's just not what we're really looking for right now.

Rancher’s Log 31;
There is no time for distractions. Tomorrow I'll head out towards those ruins and see what I find. I know 7Zee CORP said my gear might not protect me, but the new shipping supplies contained an armor upgrade I put in for last week. Maybe out there I'll find some more answers.

Rancher’s Log 45;
I did bring home a plort I found, but I have no idea what kind of slime it came from. It's the most solid plort I've ever seen, nearly stone. Ice cold to the touch, with these shining flecks of what looks like gold trailing through it. I'm going to hold onto it until I find what it came from. It would be terrible if I send it in and can't find any more slimes to produce more. 7Zee CORP suggested looking into some corrals on the farm to make it easier to harvest plorts and while I wasn't interested before, maybe I am now. If I do find what made these new plorts, I can't imagine having to go through that maze every time I need to find them, map or not.
I'll do some more research on the corrals and see how humane they are before I decide.

Rancher’s Log 59;
It's so funny. I never thought I'd come up here to make friends, but these Slimes are so much different than we're taught they are. They're so loving and loyal. One of them sat with me today when I was out on the range, one I'd seen before and fed. It remembered me, and I'm realizing they're a lot more complex of creatures than we thought they were. I’m worried that eventually 7Zee corp might want to bring them back to Earth and I don’t think that’s a good thing for the Slimes.
-Duniah
Rancher’s Log 93;
Yunni said I was overreacting to the news and maybe they’ll be able to find an additional use, but she doesn't understand. She's in that supply ship most of the time, doing nothing but hauling goods. I don't think she really understands how bad it was when the outbreak began.
That's not really fair of me to say, I know. I just can't help feeling like this is a huge setback though. I thought they could help, and I just feel so… desperate now.

Communications Log 256;
I know you were here. I don't understand it, but the farm is back to the way it was six months ago. All your Gilded are back and I don’t understand how. They're happy and fed. Everything is maintained again. Please just tell me where you've been and call the 7Zee CORP back up so they know you're okay.
I miss you.
Rancher’s Log ???;
I was on the Ranch one night and heard this terrible sound outside near the corrals. I jumped out of bed and went to see what was happening, only to find these strange looking Slimes had shown up, and there were Tars everywhere. I got my Vacpack and I was ready to defend the slimes when I saw it. One of the Tars began to change. It looked as though it was being pulled apart from the inside, and then suddenly, there was a slime again. It was the strangest Slime I’d ever seen, pink bolts of electricity shooting out of it, and little blobs of itself breaking into a sort of orbit around its body.
I knew right when I saw it, that was the slime we needed. It had the ability to revert back from being a Tar, something I’ve never even heard of being possible before in any research. And I was so stricken with emotion in that moment I didn’t think before I reacted. I used the Vacpack on the slime. It was fine for a moment, and then the gun exploded next to me. Parts of the ranch began splitting open just like I’d seen happen to that Tar, and before I knew it, I wasn’t on the ranch anymore.
I’ve been here on Teva the whole time, but I think I’m stuck somewhere from a long time ago. I’m honestly not certain. These slimes, I’m confident they’re the key. They open rifts here in this world, changing things I see in my memories as they fix things I can only imagine are from their future. And I know that sounds ridiculous, but I hope someone will believe me.
Last week I left a box for Yunni to pick up. It contained seven plorts from these slimes for testing. I don’t know if that’s enough, but I don’t think I’ll ever get the chance to bring more.
I have to go now. Please tell Yunni I miss her a great deal, and care a lot about her. I’m sorry I am not there to tell her myself. And also, please take everything I brought here away from this planet before the Rift Slimes remove it themselves.
I hope they help Earth find a cure.
