Making the best out of "bad luck"

Being born in the lap of luxury isn't always what it's cracked up to be.

Gautier is the only son of a prominent royal family. Gautier has been raised by a rotating team of nannies and strict babysitters, and craves the affection of his socialite parents who cannot quite seem to find the time for him. Growing up alone without parents or peers has taken a toll on him.

Gautier's one saving grace is Kaspar, who is not just his pet, but his closest friend on earth.

Kaspar and Gautier can always be found side-by-side, wandering through the vast villa grounds. Kaspar is a large, goofy black Newfoundland puppy who keeps Gautier entertained with his antics. Gautier may seem shy or like somewhat of an oddball to those who do not know him, and the other royal children of neighboring castles seem to find his black-clad appearance even a little intimidating.

Appearance aside, Gautier is a calm, loving soul at heart. Gautier has a fixation with the stray cats found around his family's large estate; he pays special attention to the black cats. Black cats are often labeled as 'bad luck' by superstitious individuals.

Gautier and Kaspar spent countless hours outside dragging strings through the grass to encourage the little cats to pounce and play, and suddenly they are all without a care in the world. On many occasions the boys also work together to sneak food from the kitchen, and they feel proud watching the cats feast on their bounty of scraps.

Gautier sympathizes with strays, especially spooky little black cats. He tries to take good care of them, because he knows exactly how it feels to be left alone for too long.
