You follow Lotte's instructions to Jeremias's house. You knock and receive no answer, so you try the door. It is unlocked. On the rug in the middle of the living room is a large black dog, ostensibly sleeping. You enter the house cautiously and see a desk with a typewriter and several stacks of manuscripts on it. A fresh candle burns. You walk over to the desk and read the page in the typewriter...

You hear footsteps behind you and turn around quickly. A tall man with blond hair and glasses watches you suspiciously from beside the fireplace. The dog raises its head and looks sleepily at you, but does not move.
What do you think you're doing here?
You introduce yourself and begin to explain that you want to ask questions about the murder.
Does being a detective give you the right to barge into someone's home unannounced and uninvited?
He seems irritated, but not enraged. You decide to try once more. You calmly explain the circumstances of the murder, and the newest turn of events concerning the threatening notes and the stolen box. His expression changes from one of irritation to one of concern, and his brow furrows.B

He doesn't seem to want to go on, so you decide not to press him. You thank him for his time and apologize for entering unannounced. Intrigued by the fact that Mam and Silvie were friends, you decide to pay her a visit.
