marionette was born two months too early, and incredibly sick; the hospital not even certain she would survive the night, let alone the many obstacles that lie ahead. along the way, there were a few close calls and sleepless nights, but marie always pulled through. but it was warned that whatever life she had ahead would be rife with pain and illness. they didn't know the half of it.
she quickly fell behind the other children in terms of growth; primarily physically, though some of her emotional growth was stunted as well. she struggled to regulate emotions and control her temper, leading to outbursts of anger or crying without much to set her off. her build was small, petite, skinny, and her ailments were obvious. her color was always flushed, her eyes tired, her body language passive, her voice soft. she tried her best to never miss school, but never attended social events or had much in the way of friends.
due to being different, she was bullied. despite this, the primary source of her depression was loneliness and neglect; no one wanted to be friends with the sick kid. so, she turned to reading and writing to entertain herself and forget her shortcomings. whether she was at home or at school, she was always buried in a book. this, of course, lead to more bullying. she began to write, sometimes dabbling in music, but finding her true calling was that of a poet.
despite the hardships in her life, she remained soft, a bleeding heart waiting to paint the world with her words. as she grew older, the punches only seemed to keep coming, tirelessly. those who realized that she wore her heart on her sleeve were only too eager to abuse it. desperate for the companionship that had been withheld from her throughout her childhood, she was all too willing to look past their faults - she was too trusting, too naive. she just didn't want to be alone anymore. she was just a puppet on a string.
you know, it's funny;
when you look at someone through rose-colored glasses,
all the red flags just look like flags.
extremely small build, resembling a puppy even at full size. warm. passive. indecisive. patient. forgiving. imaginative. dedicated. selfless. poetic. compassionate. empathetic. chronic pain. easily manipulated. prone to depressive states. too trusting. easily overwhelmed. believes that humanity is inherently good. doesn't believe in lost causes. poet and composer. soft-hearted artist. eventual slam poet, when she is more confident. longs to be a published poet. not the best at interacting socially, but tries her hardest.
