However I do agree with those who say that a story or some sort of text is needed.
Looking at Henna's profile, I could see or get a kind of vibe that she was based around India. I only knew what Henna was about when someone in the comments posted a link to Wikipedia. But the point in creating Henna was to have people know EXACTLY what Henna was representing, not some sort of inkling. It's a bit unsettling to see that people are more concerned about. . .politeness isnt the word I want but I hope what I'm saying will make sense, instead of giving critique/ honest opinion. I would personally be extremely upset if my idea did not come across to others, as it was intended to, and no one told me.
Some people cant write, but that's okay. A story isnt necessary in this case because Henna is not a character per say; she is a representation. So maybe the definition to the word Henna somewhere would really get the idea of the pet across. =]

I seriously thought Henna was a Swampie. Then when I saw everyone else post about it, and went to look and saw she is a Serpenth.

Congrats Joanna! I really love Henna, I love how the profile, overlay and TC are the main emphasis of this pet, and they work really well together! I honestly don't think it needs anything else.

I was just annoyed by a few people's comments putting words in mine and a few other people's mouths, and this all got WAY out of control. No more of this 'whiteknighting' on EITHER side, this wasn't supposed to happen, and I don't understand why every time if even ONE person dissents or doesn't agree with everybody-freakin'-else, a bunch of people suddenly jump on them like flies on a pie and start tearing them limb from limb. Well I'm sorry that I'd just like to know more about the pet than what I see on the page, I suppose. I'd like to know the inspiration behind her as well as what Henna represents as a whole, and I just cannot get that from the 'silent story'. It is a gorgeous profile and the pet is beautiful, and nowhere did I say that I did not appreciate the pet.
And it's well-understood that writing is not everyone's strong suit, but even a small paragraph could have shed more light on the pet. All I was asking for was some more information, as I would absolutely love to learn more about Henna.
Also, nobody here ever said that she didn't deserve the win. Please stop putting words in people's mouths.

As a <i>vehement</i> writer and supporter of quality pet stories: I'm disappointed in everyone clamoring for a story. In fact, I question anyone who considers themselves a storyteller and complains about this—are you so unimaginative that you need everything spelled out for you? Can you really not appreciate a quieter theme? Why can't a pet be "art for art's sake"?
There's no reason Henna (or Stimulant, or Ham, or any of the other <i>many pets</i> that haven't had explicit written stories) doesn't deserve this win, just look at the clear effort that has been put into her.
Writing is not everyone's strong suit. The spotlight should not cater to writers. Silent stories can be some of the best.

yeah I dont know, but! Story is a nice thing to have, even majority of paintings and drawings you can easily tell whats going on in it. Unless its picasso, then thats something different.

I don't know, I think story should be a requirement all the time. It's... confusing and sometimes rather annoying when a pet wins and there's no story for them, explaining who they are and what kind of personality that they just might have. Not all the time can such things be found out by simply looking at a treasure chest or an overlay, so the text helps out a whole lot.
...In fact, I actually have no idea what this pet is all about. I suppose Henna is from somewhere in the Middle East or South Asia judging by a few items in her TC as well as the name of her minion, but other than that, it's absolutely confusing to me.

Congrats, Jo! This has been one of my favorites since I saw the overlay.
And fwiw, I think a well thought out treasure chest or theme IS a story of it's own. If you have to have words for a story or have to have it spelled out specifically, you need to look at more paintings and photographs.
