ASSISTANT
PATIENTS

"Brush the ones you want to keep."

Hello! My name is Bitewing. There's nothing I enjoy more than the feeling of fresh and clean teeth.

When you have as many as I do, you learn to keep them clean.

Would you like me to tell you what I know?

Click through to discover the benefits of keeping your mouth healthy!

Your mouth is connected to your body!

It sounds obvious, but your mouth and teeth have an impact on your overall health. Here are just a few!

Gum disease is associated with:
  • •Heart disease 1
  • •Problems controlling blood sugar in diabetes 2
  • •Respiratory disease 3
  • •Alzheimer's disease 4

How do you keep your teeth healthy?

The basics:
  • •Brush your teeth at night and at least one other time during the day with a fluoride toothpaste.

  • •Spit out after brushing and do not rinse with water, so that the fluoride stays on your teeth longer.

  • •Clean between your teeth with ‘interdental' brushes or floss at least once a day.

  • •Good eating habits - having sugary foods and drinks less often.

  • •Visit a dental professional regularly for checkups and cleaning.

Bitewing's Tips & Tricks!

For some, remembering or getting into the habit of brushing and flossing is like (pun intented) pulling teeth. Here are some things that can help:

  • ★Set a timer on your phone for a nightly reminder to brush.

  • ★Keep your toothbrush in an area you will see--like the shower, sink or wherever works for you. Brush your teeth during the day when you remember!

  • ★Buy a nice electric toothbrush! They do all the work for you!

  • ★Find a toothpaste/floss/mouthrinse that tastes good to you. There are more flavor options than just mint out there if you're sensitive to strong flavors.
