There are many ancient and secret places on this earth. The deep forests and misty mountain ruins are often remarked as feeling magical or primal, invoking a sense of quiet and awe. These are places that had once bore witness to a god, or a battle, or a shrine, or any of the many magical things that happen just past the corner of your eye.

These sacred places are fragile despite their long age. Beings, both mortal and immortal, seek either to steal power for themselves from the ruins or cause destruction of the ancient. When the world was young, a spirit of fire was placed in charge of safekeeping these places for all eternity.

This primal fire spirit was named Breton. Since the dawn of time he has traveled the world to check on and keep safe primal sacred places, whether they be towering stone cathedrals or a deeply hidden fairy ring. They are all important and so important to him. He spends so much time on his charges that Breton has rarely gotten involved in the bickering and drama of the gods and so does not appear in many legends and is relatively unknown outside of the obscure. A book here an there might mention a a walking flame near some ruins or the charred remains of a desecrater.

Breton is rarely allows himself to be seen by regular mortals. He watches them carefully though, making sure they do not disturb his charges. He can disappear in a flare of fire, often mistaken for will-o'-the-wisps. Special mortals and immortals however, he is more upfront with, more willing to show himself. But even then Breton prefers to keep his distance. He is quiet and stoic, speaking only when necessary. If you are unfortunate enough to get his attention, it will be most likely at the point of an arrow. Breton is a master of the bow and there is little, if nothing, he can't hit. He is also an expert with the sword and hunting knife. He is capable of infusing all his weapons with fire. However, Breton does not wear much armor and while it is difficult to harm a spirit, it is not impossible.

Breton's form on the mortal plane is that of an anthro rebron antlephore or stag. He is very tall with a build of an experienced warrior. His fur is colored in shades of orange and red, his hooves and fingertips are the deepest red. Fire appears and disappears randomly on his body, the only permanent flames spring up from the prongs of his antlers. This latent fire is not hot and does not burn. On his back is a forest brown cloak with a celtic knot trim design. Around his waist is a leather belt from which hangs a long loincloth matching the cloak. The end of the loincloth is also designed with celtic knots. On his belt is a sword and hunting knife. And on his back is a quiver of arrows and a bow.
