The Imaginary Dragon

A young knight stood facing a giant blue dragon, sword drawn and ready to fight. The dragon roared loudly, rising up on his back legs and flapping his large wings. The knight charged forward, swinging his sword. Behind the dragon was a tall tower, where a young girl peered out the window.

The knight yelled to the princess about how he was going to save her, even though she apparently didn't want to be saved. The dragon swiped at the knight and made contact, the young knight fly back and hit the ground.

"Carnaby! Not so hard." He said, sliding the protective mask up to be heard.

Carnaby lowered his head, whining softly. "I am sorry Master. Please forgive me." He said, shrinking down to the size of a Great Dane. Inside the tower the Princess yelled at Bernard, angry that he was upset about being hurt when he was supposed to be fighting the dragon.Bernard yelled right back at her and stormed off, throwing his sword and helmet on the ground.

As Bernard stormed off, the shiny sword turned into a colored cardboard cutout, and the helmet turned into a plastic toy helmet. Even the tower turned into a cutout with the Princess standing on a stool to see out the window. Carnaby whined softly as the two left in separate directions, leaving Carnaby in the massive garden that Bernard's family owned. Carnaby wasn't able to leave the garden, stuck there until Bernard came back out to play with him. This had been Carnaby's life ever since he was created by Bernard. Only able to be seen by Bernard and Brie and stuck forever outside.

Carnaby lay down, setting his head on his front paws, a soft whine escaped from his mouth. Carnaby always worried that Bernard would tire of him, leaving him in the garden forever and never play with him again. Bernard said he would never forget him, but Carnaby knew he would one day. They always forget.
