"Final boarding call for Flight 415 to Lima, Peru. This is the final boarding call for Flight 415 to Lima, Peru. Please make your way to the departure lounge immediately."

The announcement echoed through the airport one final time, hurrying all of the stragglers and last minute boarders out of their coffee shops and duty-free stores and making them scuttle through the hustle and bustle and onto the flight. Except for one.

"What do you mean I can't take it on the plane?! It's a rope for crying out loud!" Geri persisted.

She had been arguing with the security guard for the better part of half an hour now. "Do you think I'm some crazy lady who likes to beat people with rope or something? I'm an explorer sir. It's kind of in my job description that I climb things, y'know. In order to explore? And, I know this sounds crazy here, but rope really helps with that!" She was beginning to get frustrated now.

"Miss, I will not tell you again. If you wish to make it to your flight on time, you are going to have to surrender the item in question and leave it in our care. As I have told you several times now, no one is accusing you of anything, but we cannot make exceptions to the rules for anyone. You should have placed it in your luggage instead of your hand luggage." The guard was obviously growing weary of her, and it was beginning to show. Geri was never very good at dealing with confrontation, it usually got out way of hand. And that was not worth risking this trip over. Nothing was working risking this trip over. Not after how long she had been waiting for this day to arrive, no way in hell.

"Fine! Okay? I'll leave it. But know that you're crushing a young womans hopes and dreams sir. I hope you can sleep tonight!" Geri dashed away and bolted through the terminal, gracefully weaving in and out of the throng of passengers rushing to their flights, laughing at her closing remark to the guard as she reminded herself to pick up a new rope once she landed.

As she continued to dash towards the gate, her mind was racing. After all this time she was finally going back, she was finally going to find out what happened to her parents. She was so excited, and yet terrified. Thrilled, and yet cautious. One thing was for sure though, this trip would make or break her life. And she couldn't wait to find out. The gate was in sight now, Geri rummaged in her bag for her boarding pass and passport, practically throwing them at the stewardess as she skidded to a halt at the desk, bouncing from foot to foot, desperately eager to run onto the plane and take her seat. After what seemed like an eternity of her looking at the passport photo, and then looking back to Geri, the woman nodded, ushered her onto the plane and wished her a good flight.

the daughter of well respected author Phillip Ron Bowman and equally admired adventurer Maya Harriet Bowman, Geri spent most of her childhood globetrotting with her parents as her mother tackled undiscovered territories and her father documented their discoveries. Fearless and fierce, Geri would often try and follow her parents out into the wilderness and attempt to accompany them on their various excursions, but they'd always chase her back to camp where it was safe. Determined to prove she had what it takes, she practised and honed her adventuring skills until they almost rivalled her mothers legendary talents. When she was 16, just before her parents set off on their next venture, she begged them to let her tag along. Reluctantly they agreed she would be permitted to join them on their next mission. Overjoyed, Geri hurried off to pack her things and get a good nights rest ready for the fantastic adventure she was sure to have. But alas, her parents never returned. Search parties were sent, all to no avail. It was as though they had vanished. With a heavy heart Geri and the crew returned home, and she vowed that one day she would return and unravel the mystery of her beloved parents disapearance.
