Suay is happy to say she lives a fairly average life. Sure, as a child, she once dreamed of thrilling adventures out in the world, exploring every continent and cranny – but now Suay has settled down into life, counting her many blessings each day.

Suay’s life, while not perfectly regimented, has a familiar rhythm to it, akin to comforting backbeat. Morning was a bevy of cleaning and chores and cramming for her tests, and before she knew it, the afternoon had rolled in. This nearly always caught her by surprise, and she had to hurry out of the house with her books in a harried attempt to arrive to class on time. Her basic classes bored her to death; it was painfully common to see the blue-haired girl staring out the window blankly during Math or History, lips parted as she pondered the world right outside her window. No, the academic rituals of the normal world were not at all interesting to her. It was the creative aspects that really took a hold of her.

When the bell would ring, freeing her from the bonds of rigid conformity, Suay would sprint back home, happy to sink deep into her preferred studies. Fashion magazines and the latest trends could be found on the table, her art supplies would spill form the living room to her bedroom, and dozens of recording supplies – all given to her by her DJ boyfriend, Alacer – took up a large potion of her spare room. All these subjects would have easily entertained her and brought her hours of pleasure, but they weren’t what she loved most. Fashion, painting, singing, all were wonderful in her eyes, but paled in comparison to astronomy. Nothing could beat the soaring heavens above, with all their complex patterns and distant planets. She was diminutive, especially in comparison with the galaxy she was so enamored with, but that only propelled her forward, made her more determined to uncover all the universe’s hidden secrets and lore. They were all out there, just waiting to be grasped!

She couldn’t stay cooped up alone in her house forever, though. Suay had never really been exceptionally popular, but her inclination towards listening and giving good advice endeared her to many. These friends were a tight-knit bunch, and she could hardly remember ever not knowing any of them. So, each afternoon when the sun was still out, Suay would troop out of her home with a new outfit on, ready to see what fun awaited her. The studious Brandbear, Vires the Guardian, and Litis the ‘Dragon’, all would accompany her to shows, visit fairs, or even just sit out side, watching the sun set. There was never a dull moment, and though none of them were especially talkative, no one ever frowned or cried when they hung out – smiles and laughter, usually over nothing in particular, easily infiltrated the group. She had many, many good memories, some encapsulated in photographs that adorned her walls. It was hard to have a bad day when she looked at them, their smiling faces beaming at her encouragingly.

The nights, however, were dedicated to Alacer. Suay fondly called him ‘Ally’, a name he’d only grudgingly accepted, and the two were nearly inseparable. They were markedly different – but ‘opposites attract’ was true in Suay’s mind. The playboy DJ and the darling student spent nights together, sharing music and memories and sweets. To say Ally was doting was an understatement. Though slightly arrogant and show offish, he was completely devoted to Suay, and it was not uncommon for him to nearly drown her in flowers and small gifts. Beautiful pendants, sparkling stones, even jars of what seemed like pure night – she had honestly o idea how he’d gotten them, but she was delighted to have them, and even more delighted to be in love with him. The night would grow dangerously late, and gorged on affection and food Suay would be taken home. The lovers would part with a kiss – one that spoke volumes of adoration and passion, much like all the other wonderful embraces that screamed likewise – and the night would end.

The clock would glare at Suay when she toppled into bed, smelling of strawberry shampoo and pear soap. Midnight would chime, almost chastising – but Suay doesn’t care, not in the least. Her life isn’t thrilling or dangerous. However, it’s even better - it’s wonderful. Each night, as Suay rolls onto her side to drift to sleep, her last thought is a contented reminder: that though the next day might be different, it will be no less perfect.

When she wakes up in the morning, the process begins all over again. The prediction of the previous night usually comes true, and Suay would never want it any differently.
