Mage energy is a sad, twisted lie passed on from Fremont Energies to the citizens of Pridd. It may offer convenience, but that is all it offers. Fremont Energies may warn a mage of the risks involved, but they hold back as much of the truth as they legally can - including that the mages that work for them have a significantly shorter lifespan. Focusing their powers into such a tiny vessel in mass quantities drains a mage of their power, and eventually their life. It is disturbing that lies of such magnitude are told to preserve the image of a company that could care less about the well-being of their employees.

That's not to mention the misconceptions about how clean and good it is. Mages must take their power directly from the four elements. When they create power cells, they must call upon so much of an element at once that they leave something twisted and dark behind. You may not see it now, but in time our land will become as corrupted as Fremont Energies itself, a barren place where not even grass can grow.

It is time for Priddians to stop being lazy - to see that steam, not lies, is our future! To see that technology is meant to advance, not to sit still while our world dies. To quit listening to some that would have you believe life can simply be purchased in a tiny glass vessel!

Winifred, better known as Winn, is the only daughter of Owen Fremont. Growing up as the daughter of the owner and president of Fremont Energies, Winn was around mage- energy in her every day life and never thought twice about its origins or the ethics behind it. She did not, however, have any interest in being a part of Fremont Energies, and she was happy to leave the future of the family business to her brother, Thatcher.

Winn has no magical talent of her own, and she spent most of her childhood reading up about building power cells and combining steam with mage energy. Pleased with Winn's intelligence and ambition, Owen gladly paid the tuition for his daughter to attend Pridd University to study mechanics and engineering under some of the best professors in the country. It was in one of her first classes that she met and befriended Walnut - and also when she had her eyes opened to the truth behind mage energy. Feeling like her entire life until then had been a lie, Winn confronted both her brother and father about the horrific reality of their industry. Her father, a rather loud-mouthed businessman not about to be told 'no' by his bullheaded daughter, told Winn to shut her mouth and mind her place. After refusing to keep her peace, Owen kicked her out of his home and from the Fremont family all together.

Unfortunately, the luxurious lifestyle Winn had enjoyed vanished when she lost her name - along with her college fund, and she soon found herself kicked out from the university. Not one to be discouraged, Winn got a job at the library in Cydry, first as a simple book stocker and clerk and soon as a researcher. Eventually, she was given the chance to be one of the head librarians at her work, and having fallen in love with her impromptu career, she accepted the job.

Now, Winn spends most of her time organizing books and protesting the uses of mage energy alongside Fen and Walnut. When she is not in their workshop, interrupting their projects and progress, she can be spotted out with Walnut and their rather loud, drunken and rambunctious group of friends. She seems content enough to no longer speak to her father, but her and Thatcher run into each other quite frequently - and often with an exchange of harsh words.
