It's early morning in the cooler, mountainous regions of the Sacred Lands. The sun casts warm gold and pink hues across the landscape, complementing the dusty blue shadows. The landscape is broken by tall, thin, rocky spires, covered in vines and hanging plants. Many of these are pocked with caves. A breeze whistles through them and rattles against the bronze and glass windows that cover one of the largest spires. A rope bridge leads directly to an entrance half-way up, where a plaque by the door reads " The Kaydreamer's Home"
Kaylene is surrogate owner to a growing number of pets, most of whom came to tag along by complete accident. She doesn't mind really, and her eclectic family seems to get along well enough, most of the time. Kay's first pet was Solariex, whom she found on her travels shortly after leaving home. The rest, well... They were picked up here there and everywhere. Kay makes her living through selling her art, as well as working as a some-times quester for Sagittarius. (Through really, why the man can't get off his own behind to go shopping himself is beyond her.)
Kay was originally from Ziara City. When she contracted a new (and at the time, incurable) strain of Pandemic infection, she, like most newly Unliving, left home for the Shadowglen. Unfortunately her flight was diverted to the Darklands due to weather conditions and Kay wandered off to explore, became completely lost, and met a huge Reborn Rreign after traipsing around for hours. Together they went traveling all over Subeta, Kay deciding that "Zombie or not I'd rather live somewhere sunny". After a few months they ventured to the Sacred Lands and came across a beautiful, isolated place in the Eastern highlands beyond the vast deserts; a landscape of tall, rocky spires pocked with natural caverns. Kay later found out the caves were once used by an order of monks which had long since disappeared. The surroundings are resplendent with rivers and greenery and Kay fell in love with it the instant she saw it. A good thing too, because the caves are extensive and with Kay's odd clan growing as it is, they'd never be able to afford (or fit into) a real house.
By the time Kay found out that a cure for her infection had been discovered she had grown so used to it, and the independent person it had helped her to become, that she decided against curing. Kay quite enjoys the way her stone-like skin looks and steadfastly refuses to disguise herself, or to sequester herself in the Shadowglen. She's found that there are many more accepting and supportive people then most Unliving folk realise and she's thankful for every single person who manages to look past what she is and instead see who.

Breaking out of character now; My name really is Kaylene, I'm a 23 year old singer and doodler from Perth, Western Australia. I have a DeviantART account as well as a Tumblr, both of which host my artwork.
I take commissions when I'm not working and I've been drawing ever since I was 13. I'm a member of Menagerie and love working on my pets when I actually get time. I'm a bit of a geek, I love Marvel comics and various anime shows, among other things. I'm a huge Doctor Who fan, especially of the classic stuff with the 4th Doctor. And I'm an even bigger fan of Star Trek, though 99% of my Star Trek love is reserved for the Next Gen series.
