Grelle Sutcliff is a Grim Reaper, charged with judging whether a dying soul should be allowed to continue living or pass on to the next life. However, Grelle isn't the most... serious person in the world when it comes to his job. Usually all it takes is a nice looking man to throw him off his focus. This usually leads to some sort of punishment by his superior, William T. Spears, and confiscation of his beloved (illegally) modified Death Scythe. Grelle doesn't give up easily, however, and takes most of this in stride. His tenacity is most apparent in his pursuit of the demon, Sebastian Michealis (much to Sebastian's continued annoyance).

Grelle also has some other odd personality traits that seem to annoy most of the people around him (for whatever reason). He's flamboyant and a little over the top, doing things in an extravigant manner if at all possible. He also generally refers to himself as a female, even wearing women's clothing when he gets the chance. This causes some people to be put off by him, but none of that ever really bothers him much. He's also obsessed with the color red, red being the only color he'll have things in.
