The Goddess

My name is Anzelix, and I owe everything I have to my lady, Atlene. Many years ago, after creating this beautiful land, she found that doing it all on her own was much too difficult for her, and would be for anyone, understandably. Thus, my lady created gods to rule beneath her and take care of different areas of her world. I was given the land of trees and flowers and everything in between. I have a little say over animals, but that is mostly my lady's jurisdiction.

I made my home in a small glade, the perfect size for me. There is a large pond surrounded by trees and with an islanded tree within it. It is on this small island that I created my small shrine. It honours my lady and all she has done. In this place, it cannot be harmed. I do not leave offerings, as my lady has spoken against it, however I sometimes leave a flower I find exceptionally beautiful there for her, just as a small token of my gratitude. I have often seen her with these flowers woven in her fur, and it makes me ecstatic that she would enjoy something I gave her so much as to take it with her where she goes.

There are times when she comes to visit me in my glade, and I celebrate those days like holidays. She compliments me on the beauty of my glade and often tells me how sweet I am. I do not deserve her praise, but I take it and treasure it anyway. When she doesn't come, however, her granddaughter does. The lovely little Evgeniya loves to come to my glade and look at all the flowers, sometimes planting a few of her own. I love to have her here, and she knows she is always welcome.

Due to the war, I had to do what I despise most and collect an army for battle. I am generally a gentle soul, like those I govern, but I suppose I have my temper. Finding suitable warriors that are loyal only to nature and my glade is a difficult task, however. But despite that, I have found one such soul; the kind Ja Nai. He is a loyal general to me, and never questions my motives. I am lucky to have such a warrior by my side in the coming wars, and I hope that he will continue to serve by my side in the many coming years.

If you want to visit my glade, you are always welcome. I will bar no soul from this place, but I hope you know that no harm can be done to any living thing in this glade. It is a sanctuary, and I will keep it that way.

The Legend

Child, did you know that once, many years ago, there were no flowers? No, there was only grass and one tree. That tree is Our Lady Atlene's sacred Tree of Life. Anyone living within a league of that tree can become immortal after time and because of this, few people know where this tree is. But I know where it is, and I will tell you.

That tree is located in the very center of Anzelix' glade, in the middle of a pond. It is this tree that she uses as a shrine to Our Lady. As you know, Anzelix is the creator of green life, but she is also the creator of all those colours you see in a field of flowers. Anyone lucky enough to find her glade will become immortal, and likely become a warrior for her cause. She has a special elixir that she will give to you if you are worthy, and it is made of the very water that feeds the tree of life. With it, you will become a child of the tree, and a champion for her.

Many people have gone to try and steal her water, putting it in crude glass containers and drinking it without a thought. Immortality and beauty is too great a temptation. And they pay for it. I once did the same. I took my prettiest glass bottle, foolishly thinking that mattered. I crept onto the glade which I had already found before, and filled the glass to the brim. As soon as I was far enough away from the glade to down the contents in two gulps.

It was the worst mistake I'd ever made. Instead of growing green fur and flowers upon my pelt, I became a hideous creature, with a massive growth on my back, a long neck and the most disgusting visage you can imagine.

If you want to be a holy creature, it is best to be blessed by the holy.
