This is Faust. He is a Sun Conure, and my little buddy. If you're talking to me chances are he's on me, near me, or in my shirt. He's 5 years old, and I've had him since he was 4 months old. Like most sun conures he's a rather affectionate thing, but unlike most sun conures he's actually rather chill and even lazy.
These are the aviary parakeets Bean (white and female) and Mugen (yellow and male, half English, half American standard). They are a bonded pair. Bean has a clubbed foot and cannot walk very well, and Mugen takes excellent boyfriend-y care of her. Sadly, Mugen passed away in June of 2013 from a fungal infection caused by a ruptured air sac. We'll miss you, Moogs.
These are the tiels, Maestro (yellow and male) and Kushi (white and female). Maestro is very musically inclined and will never stop singing no matter how much we beg him. He has quite an impressive vocabulary for such a young age and loves to see what you're up to. Kushi is very bossy and isn't shy about letting you know what she wants. She's rather quiet, but will watch you in the most creepy fashion possible.
This is Zelkova, our lineolated parakeet. He is learning to talk and can say "hi" and "hello" pretty clearly, as well as "pretty bird" and a repertoire of whistles. He also laughs, especially when someone gets injured and enjoys trolling us as well as the other birds. Survival instinct: Minimal. Unfortunately, Zelkova passed away early 2013, from old age. He lived a very happy life and we will miss him dearly.
This is the diva of the group, Loki. He's far too intelligent for his own good and is a completely hand-tamed budie. He adores Faust, and his hobbies include being the center of attention, grooming and screaming, as well as telling everyone how great he is.
This is the newest addition to the flock, Piffle the curl-crested aracari. He joins us from the Emerald Forest Bird Gardens in California. He's infinitely curious and will thank you to leave all of your blueberries in his fruit cup, thank you very much. He also hates buttons and will remove them from you if allowed.
Last but not least, our finches. There's six of them; three males, three females, by the names of Hadley, Bellatrix, Antares, Gambit, Fabio and Pietra. The meeping never stops.
