Bendy_Demon![]() Profile to Profile | I once had a neighbor who thought that the hallmark of a 'great' movie was if someone got killed in the first ten minutes; he was not very mature or considerate. When it comes to tv shows, they have become more and more violent and bloody to the point that it doesn't even add to the storyline so except for a couple of detective shows like Murdoch Mysteries or the older sitcom 'Home Improvement' I mostly watch cartoons. But even some of the sitcoms were insulting like 'According to Jim' or 'Married with Children' and such which are, in my view gross, disgusting and borderline sexist. I rarely listen to music on the radio because it offers up nothing...I have a couple of CD's from Loreena Mckennit or Celtic Woman and a CD of a band called ABBA and the rest of my CD's are Japanese music and some Tibetan chants and stuff. Action in a movie is one thing but gratuitous violence and sexually explicit stuff makes me puke..it's as if the producers don't know how to make a movie without saturating it with gratuitous sex, violence and overall cruelty. I can't imagine that this is what a majority wants but then again you look at society (such as in the U.S) and the media is a reflection of what our society values or respectively doesn't value. It's as if nothing is sacred anymore... So I am careful what I watch and I gladly 'miss out' on lots of movies and shows because they offer nothing of substance. |
Bendy_Demon![]() Profile to Profile | Well..to be honest the 'Ok' sign IS, apparently, considered vulgar in some cultures HOWEVER we can't keep changing things just because someone might be offended. When you keep censoring and watering down a language then it loses all meaning. What's next? Can't call a cat a cat because it might offend a cat somewhere (or a cat owner) then decide you can't call them felines either? But you are right, in such cases with things like the syrup issues the only people who claimed it was 'racist' was the people who sat there and made a stink about something that had been around for over a hundred years. Well...unfortunately there will always be people who seem to get their jollies out fo creating a stink about something but if news outlets simply refused to give these people the attention they so crave I think they might feels really silly after awhile; but then again some might not be smart enough to even feel any shame over their selfish behavior. Now..creamed spinach is another ball of wax altogether. That stuff is TOTALLY gross and borderline evil! 😝 |
