The fog was dense, its long fingers creeping out and around every tree and crevice like a blanket. The air was heavy and seemed to weigh on your chest as you press on down the road. It was the time for all to go out door-to-door, knocking and asking for tricks or treats from neighbor and friend alike. You absolutely adore this holiday and this year you nailed the perfect costume for your holiday endeavors. It took you all year to make and you were enthralled by the outcome, having thought about what you wanted to be since last year while you were traversing the streets. This was the most unique, original costume and everyone stopped to stare in awe and amazement. You have completely outdone yourself once again.

Your victory was short-lived as you feel something cold sweep by your ankle. Suddenly you realize that the sidewalk turned into an old, broken road somewhere along the way and there were far less street lights than earlier. The trees along either side of the road leaned inward, their naked, battered branches tired of reaching upward to the skies. A cold breeze sweeps the area, a few leaves losing their will to cling to their branches as they’re carried away into the night. The path before you looks increasingly dark and haunting, a foreboding air oozing through the night and brushing up every red flag you have. Yet something seems to call for you, beckoning you and encouraging you to keep pressing on. As if under some spell you keep wandering down this disheveled road, your curiosity trumping all logic and reason.

Before long your foot hits gravel, sending chills up your spine which make the hairs on the back of your neck stand at attention. The fog has thickened, the trees have edged closer and closer to you, and it has become increasingly hard to see the light of the moon. A howl off in the distance seems to warn you about turning back before it’s too late, but you continue on. Someone or something had a hold on you much harder than caution or fear and it drove you further into the unknown. What could possibly be down this road which kept driving you into complete and utter darkness?

As you continue to walk, you begin to hear the voices of children singing. The words are muffled and you’re barely able to make out the syllables, but the sound of children seem to reassure your decision to keep going despite the fact the world around you was getting darker. No one was going to let their children come down this way if it wasn’t safe, so there was no need to worry. That’s what you keep telling your nagging doubt which was chewing at the pit of your stomach like a dog on a bone. There’s nothing to be afraid of this way if there are children singing and laughing. In fact you were beginning to understand the song that they were singing and it was one you also grew up harping:

”Trick-or-Treat,
Smell my feet,
Gimmie somethin’ good to eat…”

A nervous laugh escapes your pursed lips and pierces the darkness around you. Hearing your own laugh against those of the children caused your skin to crawl as goosebumps sprouted all over. Someone or something was watching you from a distance and not even the harmless children’s song seemed to put an ease to this feeling of paranoia. You stop a moment to look around, gripping your treat bag tightly as your eyes scan the darkness for any signs of life besides yourself. You call out to whoever might be near you and are met with the children calling back to you. They tell you to keep coming, you’re almost there, and there’s nothing to be afraid of. Wait, you were almost where?

Children couldn’t possibly be bad though, so you keep moving forward in this maze of darkness. There was not a scrap of light, only the singing of the children to guide you to where you were going. It seemed like you had been walking for ages, your legs beginning to ache from the physical exertion that night. Your eyes seemed to adjust to the darkness the longer you were in it, but no matter how loud the singing got you still could not make out any shapes.

”Trick-or-Treat,
Smell my feet,
Gimme somethin’ good to eat!
If you don’t, I don’t care,
I’ll pull down your underwear!”

Without any warning an equine-like creature leaps out in front of you with grinning maw alight with a demonizing orange. Despite having a beak, the mouth stretched over furry black cheeks and highlighted dark pits where eyes should be. The irises were small, its pupils spirals which could lead you into madness if you stared too long. It adorned a glowing orange mismatching rack atop its head, one antler looking like a hand grasping upward for freedom while the other curled around what looked to be a piece of candy. A tail of seven feathers fanned out behind it, each one holding an eye of a different color which looked about frantically. You try to scream, but it’s drowned out by the sound of children’s laughter.

Trick-or-Treat Tips
The quickest way to Trick-or-Treat is by using the Random link posted in the news side bar. There is only a five minute wait time and no chance at being hexed. The only downside comes from seeking specific items from certain item pools, but you could clear a good bit out by using this link.

If you're seeking specific items, there is usually a thread in the Morostide Forums which lists all of the items being given out as well as which users give them out. How items are distributed is random, but has commonly used the methods of month the user joined or the user's ID number. Whichever method will usually be posted in the pinned topic listing all of the items being given out.

To find a nice place to both Trick-or-Treat and have users come to you, either post in the Morostide Forums in one of the T-o-T, Egg, or TP the User Above You threads or hang out in the ShoutBox. The only rule is that you cannot ask users to T-o-T, TP, or Egg your house specifically while posting in the ShoutBox. If someone asks, "Who still needs this achievement?" and another user answers, that is perfectly acceptable. Check out the full ShoutBox Rules before posting!

On the last day of Morostide, all timers are shortened to three minutes for Random Trick-or-Treating and five for personally visiting someone.

There are a total of three items which can help in your Trick-or-Treating endeavors (none of the items stack with each other however):
- Collection of Obscene Gesture Photos - An item which increases the chance of being hexed. It was originally gotten from the Token Shop, but has been re-released for the season.
- Hypno-Monocle - An item which decreases the chance of being hexed. It was originally gotten from the Cash Shop, but is often re-released in the Token Shop for the season.
- Protective Sage - An item which decreases the chance of being hexed. It was originally gotten from and is sold in the Millionaire Center, with a discount during autumn.

There are two Human Avatar Borders which can be obtained via Trick-or-Treating as of Morostide 2021:
- Cavity Central - Trick-or-Treat 1,500 times.
- Heckin Hex - Randomly rewarded upon being hexed.

Frequently-Asked-Questions:
When do Trick-or-Treat items retire?
When it's their second anniversary. For example: Items released during 2019 were also available for 2020, but they retired in 2021. After this you can only acquire them by buying them from another user, questing, battling, or the carnival. Users will also often offer up their item doubles for free using various methods and quite frequently will dump them in the Donation Corner at the end of the holiday season.

How do you get retired items from questing?
During Luminaire, all of the Quest Givers have a chance of giving holiday items instead of their regular item pool. This usually extends to restock items, but there are many other ways to obtain retired Trick-or-Treat items.

How do you get retired items from battling?
While battling the seasonal challengers they will drop random retired Morostide items along with their regular challenger loot.

How do you get retired items from the Delphi Carnival?
You can get them randomly by playing any of the carnival games.

What do people mean by, "Wave 1," and, "Wave 2?"
Trick-or-Treat items are handed out in waves rather than all at once, making the items in Wave 2 a bit rarer. Keep in mind that when the next year rolls around, all of that year's items will be included in Wave 1 (i.e. Wave 1 and Wave 2 items from 2017 were available when Wave 1 2018 items released).

When does Wave 2 start?
It typically starts half-way through the Morostide season (i.e. if we get two full weeks of Morostide then on the eighth day we would get Wave 2).

Why did I get hexed during Random Trick-or-Treating?
This is an unfortunate glitch and has been stated by staff themselves that Random Trick-or-Treating is not supposed to hex you.

Why didn't timers get shortened on the last day?
If the timers have not been shortened by 12:00am 31st October, submit a ticket. Even if you think they may extend the holiday, it is not always promised. It's better to submit a ticket and get answers than to go without, especially on a holiday like this where some items are only gotten this way (and by greater luck/saving up otherwise)! If they have stated without a shadow of a doubt that they are extending the holiday, there will be no need to do this.

If this is every single Trick-or-Treat item to date, why does it say 2653 out of 2654?
The final item that is, "missing," from his TC would be the Bad Candy minion that he has who is named Burton.

Why did you organize the TC like that?
The way Trick-or-Treat's TC is organized is by tricks (inedible objects) and treats (edible objects). The categories themselves are not alphabetized, however the items in each category are. I felt it was too unoriginal to categorize it strictly by alphabetical order or even release date when you can already look it up like that via SubetaLodge. I thought this would be a more unique way of presenting every single Trick-or-Treat item released on Subeta to date.

Why do you have two, "Candy," categories?
One is regular, "Candy," and the other is, "Hard Candy." I had a lot of inedible object categories and not enough edible ones, so I had to split some categories up (which is why some of them have so few items).

Why is [this item] in [this category]?
A lot of Trick-or-Treat items have multi-use and when it came down to it I put whatever item you're asking about in the category it's in because that particular category was lacking. I then went based on either the Item Image or Item Name over its more common use. If you legitimately think I've placed something in the wrong category, don't be afraid to reach out and let me know!

Will you ever redo this TC?
I actually did redo it once, because I originally had everything in alphabetical order in their respective categories instead of how they are now. Then I thought to myself, "Jenn, why on Earth would you do this when you put all of the same media series together regardless of the name of the actual piece?" And then I went in alphabetical order based on the item series name, putting all of the flavors together and making the TC look more uniform in the process. I'm not sure why I didn't do this to begin with. All of this to say that yes, it is very plausible that I will reorganize this TC (not as drastically as prior; something simple like giving a new item series its own category).

Is there ever a chance that you will do another guide/TC like this?
As of October 2023, I do believe I have officially decided I will not do another guide like this one. Staff have been posting a FAQ for the holidays the last I had seen which answers any questions new and/or existing users might have. There is less chance of misinformation as I have revised this guide several times due to my own misunderstandings and I don't want to be a source of confusion. I will continue to check and edit this guide and potentially add more information/fun things as time goes on (I added the ragdoll references and have been thinking of adding the sticker references as well). As for another TC like this one, only time will tell. I did have a lot of fun with this one because I thoroughly enjoy organizing things, but I must also update it annually with each year's new items. This includes potentially making new categories and sorting through literally thousands of items. While I do love organizing, this can take hours to complete at times and I don't want to be overwhelmed by something that's intended to be fun for me.

What inspired you to do this guide?
Hallowe'en is one of my favorite holidays and I loved being able to dress up as a kid to go Trick-or-Treating, so when I made this pet it was based solely on that rather than a guide. 2021 is the year I decided to also turn this pet's profile into a guide for the Trick-or-Treating part of Morostide--focusing solely on that as a result of his TC--because I mention him every year and how his TC grows. I've been wanting to find more ways that I can help others in general and this seemed like a relatively easy way to help others on a game that I love to play.

Why did you stop the completion date in January 2019?
It's the date I had finally gathered every single retired Morostide Trick-or-Treat item and not just the current year's items. If anything I'm the most active during Morostide and Survival so I typically get every item for the current year and it isn't as big an achievement as the time, money, and effort spent by myself and others when finding the retired items.

Why don't you list every user who helped you with this profile/TC?
At one point I had a list saved of all the users who had gifted me things for this TC or helped in other ways and it was lost, so now I don't list anyone. The one user I do list found me a couple of unbuyable retired items from users willing to part with them out of their own collections. Since the creation of this TC most--if not all--of the retired items have been re-released to the point they are no longer unbuyable (just pricey in some cases). This doesn't diminish my appreciation for the things others have done for me in order to help me pull this all together and in the future I plan to have a written copy in case something like this ever happens again. This pet would not be what he is today without the wonderful users of this site to help me!
