It's early morning among the spires of Shengui Guo. The sun casts warm gold and pink hues across the landscape, complementing the dusty blue shadows. Moored to one of the spires is a large brass airship, pitching gently in the breeze. Its crystal canopy catches the morning sunlight, glittering serenely as it reflects the incandescent rays in a thousand directions. On the balcony at the top of the ship a lone figure sits, an easel in front of her and a brush in her hand, basking in the beauty of the scenery before her.
Kay is surrogate owner to a number of pets, most of whom came to tag along by complete accident. She doesn't mind really, and her eclectic family seems to get along well enough, most of the time. Kay's first pet was Tinkelle, whom she found living in the airship she calls home. The rest, well... They were picked up here there and everywhere. Kay makes her living through selling her art, as well as working as a courier for Sagittarius. (Through really, why the man can't get off his own behind to go shopping himself is beyond her.)
Kay was originally from Ziara City. When she contracted a new (and at the time, incurable) strain of Pandemic infection, she, like most newly Unliving, was quarantined to the Shadowglen. Once her transformation had stabilised Kay wandered off to explore, eventually discovering a large abandoned airship deep in a wet, forested valley. It looked like it had been there for centuries, with vines and moss growing thick all over it… which made it all the more surprising when Kay, upon reaching the bridge, switched on the controls and found everything in perfect working order. She decided to make the airship ship her floating home, not knowing yet that she was sharing it with the tiny engineer who had preserved it all those years.
By the time Kay found out that a cure for her infection had been discovered she had grown so used to it, and the independent person it had helped her to become, that she decided against curing. Kay quite enjoys the way her stone-like skin looks and steadfastly refuses to disguise herself, or to sequester herself in the Shadowglen. Instead, she travels the globe in her floating home, exploring the most beautiful places Subeta has to offer.
