WELCOME, YEAR 2023!

Start your year off with a game or two with these new items!

The items originally slated for Mysterious Melody 2021 have been added to the New Year Shop in the 2023 tab.

You can earn New Year Tokens by completing your daily quests or by random event. These will stop going out at 11:59pm on January 15.

These tokens have been going out since midnight, so don't worry if you did quests before this post!

January is a lovely time to play your favorite board game, according to not only the New Year Shop but also this month's collection from the Cash Shop!

You can also purchase one of our older January Donation Presents or Collections!

You have until the next monthly collection is released to get these challenger summoners from the Cash Shop. They are were all released in January of previous years. Note: The Glittering Feather is a winter based challenger and will stick around February and come back December.

It's time for the first chaotic Token Shop restock of the year!

Over the next 24 hours or so, I will be restocking items randomly in the Token Shop. Don’t assume an item restocked earlier will appear in a later restock, I really am choosing at random. We are not adjusting the wait time between purchases, either, so you’ll have some hard decisions.

Weekend quests ~~as well as Potion Lottery and Recycle Beast~~* should be working properly again! Trying to fix the problem with the existing code was not working, so Keith had to write something new and compatible from scratch. To celebrate we're starting it early so for today through Thursday Wizard Quests will count as weekend bonus. We've reset quests as well. Then on Friday morning the new code should set a new weekend quest for Saturday and Sunday and will be able to select someone properly and according to schedule going forward.

We'll be keeping an eye on the switchover to make sure everything's working. One of the advantages of new code is that it should hopefully be easier to fix if something goes wrong again, whereas unfortunately trying to patch the old cron management for those features was just not proving effective despite multiple tries. Thank you, and we hope you enjoy your questing!

*EDIT 1/19: Recycle Beast, Potion Lottery and shop clearing will require a bit more finagling. They are running still, just on the old cron! They'll just require new code and set-up of their own, but we'll do another front page announcement when we have it nailed down.

The Recycle Beast is ready to add to his hoard, and is eager for new stuff; he will have more categories including rarity 170 and 195 in his asks. We're also testing something; he will be changing what he asks for to twice a day, EDIT more specifically twice in a twenty-four hour period with at least an hour buffer between, at random times. We are hoping this gives people in other time zones a chance to turn their items in at more convenient intervals, and to entice more Subetans to visit Riverside's resident trash hoarder in general despite the smell.

Updates shortly on shop clearing and Potion Lottery when the coding is done for them!

Friendly challengers are back! Each month, an NPC will join the normal tab of the Battle Coliseum for you to battle. This month is Bibi and Lilah; you might recognize them from the Balloon Hunt at Delphi Carnival.

The friendly challengers this year will not disappear after their month finishes - so you have plenty of time to defeat Bibi and Lilah.

We're also back to having a new monthly Cash Shop challenger. You can unlock the challenger Gardak using the Garnet Embedded Clay Figurine from the Cash Shop.

Next year, these challengers will show up in the Cash Shop in the month they were released. For now, though, they will stick around until the next month's challenger release! So if you aren't able to get the Garnet Embedded Clay Figurine before the next Cash Shop Challenger, you'll have to wait until next January.

We've changed the special item for our Subscription Quester, Councilor, and Goddess plans. We will be changing this special item slot every month.

If you have been wondering where I am being for long times, the answer, it is right here: working on this nostalgic telenine pet! Isn't it somethings? I am largely enjoying this one, it is like excellent robot that says pew pew, except it can be folding up! That is very useful for storing away, which I am needings in my workshop these days.

The instructions are to be found in the Token Shop for now if you are being quick, but also in the shop of my daughter, Thimble & Co! The Essence of Melody is being found in the Millionaire Center.

Remember, if you are wanting help to build them, come to see me at my workshop, and bring instructions and an Essence of Melody, ya?

You may have noticed that Alexander has decided to stick around for a bit for the weekend quest. We're going to keep him that way until Friday, at which point the weekend quest will change and go through Sunday as normal, and we'll make sure to have everything sorted by Monday this time.

Thank you for people who pinged and made forum threads about it! We really appreciate everyone wanting to be on the same page, especially in the face of technical difficulties. We also know it isn't always easy, and I wanted to check with the rest of Subeta's staff to make sure we were all in agreement about the general philosophy of how best to work with y'all when something doesn't quite go according to plan. So this announcement goes for this week and is also going to be pinned as general notice:

If a weekend quest setting fails to reset or expire, or if you have a quest buff that is not expiring, you may continue doing those quests as you normally would even with the coding issues. Please do report it through the problems and bugs forum and we will do our best to keep people updated as well, but in the meantime you will NOT be penalized for using the site as you normally would within Subeta's general rules because of a sitewide problem we need to fix.

Please do report issues through the problems and bugs forum as they pop up, though! We're still invested in addressing problems and enhancing overall experience, and detailed information always helps with that. Thank you for being a part of Subeta, and for helping us improve!
