The flames are wonderful but its body is too skinny, not only compared to the species, but compared to real snakes. My 7 foot boa is much bulkier.

But yeah I think Rah did the last 3 (including this one). I know Arbor did Hydrus. I'm thinking (judging by style) Arbor responsible for most Serpenth art, but she no longer does art for Subeta. Which I think is a shame.

You know, it's probably just me being a big weirdo as always, but after thinking about it for some time I actually came to like the whole belly-orbs concept.
Serpenth as species always seemed kind of lacking to me, since they're basically just... winged snakes. So making them more different from the original snakes sounds like a great idea. (Though, personally I'd prefer them to have some centipede features...)
Anyway, I DO think this Serpenth looks a bit like a peapod, but I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. At the very least, it's funny, and I hope they'll never change it.
p.s.: I'd also kill for a Glade Serpenth that is actually part-peapod!

I love the revamp, I think it looks amazing now, and its nice to see the Serpenths get some love,its been long over due! And i do not see the peas on the belly, i think it looks fine!

I agree with Dunedainsith. I'm a little sick of seeing people complain over the smallest things. I think it looks great, and just because one drawing may have some tiny flaws, it's not going to repel me from ever getting one of those pets. I mean, they ARE virtual pets, they don't have to be 100% realistic. I don't see how it looks like peas, it looks like the underbelly of a Serpenth, now calm down!

To everyone who thinks the underside looks like peas, I totally get what you mean. yes, it does look like a peapod without two sides of the pod to cover the peas, but last i looked this was a pet website, not anatomy class. if you want to get technical, why is the Torrent always drawn without water surrounding it? It would drown! And the Legacia, the random scales on its body, horses do not have scales.

You can say serpenths always had weird bellies and are a fake species, which is true. But even fake creatures need functional and believable anatomy. Saying nah it's always been that way is a slippery slop....why bother doing revamps at all the old art has always been that way. It's a way to let the artists off, and it a rather lazy way at that. I came to subeta for the art and feel I am free to critique what I feel is below standard. I'm am by no means bashing the artists so please don't take it that way.

The best examples come from the chibi and hydrus versions but even the common colors aren't as rounded. That said I think the problem is as much to do with the shading on the skin right before the belly scales, it's highlighted in such away it appears rounded and raised.

My goooosh. This pet is absolutely stunning. At first glance, it does look a little skinny. But no problem at all, it is still amazing. And I don't get the whole "peas" thing. It's a magnificent serpenth!

I am so glad there's now a reborn serpenth revamp as it so needed it. Its expression, its pose is amazing and its mane hair, although there are a few things that don't look quite right.
It's scales on its belly looks too bumpy and rounded than they should be. If they were flatter, it would look a lot better. I feel sad that its wings wasn't like the previous serpenth as it's wings were fiery yet wing-shaped (one of the features I loved about it) and now it just looks as if its wings are set on fire or normal wings transforming into fire. (I know that might be a difficult to do)
So it's a great revamp, it's nice that the serpenth are getting some TLC! :)

You guys are critiquing the belly, but did you realize that the Serpenth is not a literal snake. It has fucking wings I mean c'mon.

THIS IS SO GORGEOUS GORGEOUS BABY AAAA WHAT A PERFECT PET
it's so vibrant and eye-catching which is exactly what the reborn serpenth needed to be, I think!! the flames are incredible. I. really wish I was better at describing what i'm trying to say, but the... motion, maybe...? in the flames, just-- the way the different 'strands' were handled and they all come together in this sort of elegant, burning mane... I'm not sure how to describe it, but it looks seriously amazing, and I'm really in love with it!
I really, really love the face, and that blue eye. Blue eyes can be really great on reborn pets, and this is definitely a case where that succeeds!
And the shading is just soooo gorgeous, oh man, you guys seem to be constantly getting better at shading and it's just awesome to see!!

The reborn's underside scales are only slightly more defined than other colors; it's really not inconsistent or overly noticeable when you look at the serpenths side by side, imo!

The shading on the underside is way too overdone....it does remind me vaguely of peas. I believe this is what is referred to as cushion shading and if it was a CW would be denied. Snakes do not have skin that hangs over on either side of their bellies instead it is a gradual color change along with the scales becoming larger. While the art is good the belly ruins it for me it looks like he's been sliced open and is in the process of being skinned to make a pair of boots.....and his insides are yellow peas.

I don't understand the whole peas thing. My first impression was that it looked a bit centipede-ish. That being said, if you look at the rest of the Serpenths, none of them have snake-accurate ventral scales. All of them are a bit raised and rounded instead of as flat as rl snakes' are. Which is interesting because it's something I'd never noticed before. Lovely revamp, so nice to see the Serpenths getting much needed love lately.

As far as the revamp goes it's really pretty... But the fire just looks like hair to me, even on the wings, and his belly looks like peas!

WOW, this is great! I love it being a bit airborne! I figure the serpenth can't really "fly" with those wings but being able to lift up a bit is super cool.
I actually really, REALLY like how different the reborn pets can look. I love how some have super dark bodies and others have lighter ones. I think it's really cool and makes it a unique-unique color, lol. Like compare this one to the mortiking, I don't think the mortiking would look very nice in super bright colors, but it looks great dark. And this serpenth is so impressive in its bright colors. It's awesome!!
