A "spanner" here has always been some kind of wrench/tool so that's kind of interesting to learn about the word.

Nice profile and congratz on the win. I don't wanna sound mean but in German a "Spanner" is someone who hides to watch nacked people or people having sex. It is normaly not really used in the context you describe it ^^
