Oh heavens - have you seen Boudewijn around? He\'s in a dreadful mood, and cutting in on everyone\'s dances! I\'ve heard that if people refuse to let him cut in then he challenges them to a duel! What a sourpuss.
At least he\'s giving away bags of trinkets if he loses. Paying his shame away! You can\'t really expect to have a good time at the Masquerade Ball if you\'re nothing but rude and pushy, I say!
It certainly would put a smile on my face to see people beating him. It\'s certainly achievement worthy! To be quite honest, people deserve one for even trying. So watch out for Boudewijn!

Actually managed to beat the rock-paper-scissors like game for the first time encountering him and won a bag of 50 steamworks trinkets. Not too bad! You just have to choose the right sword twice instead of three times!
Can you please up the odds of him appearing the last day or two? I spend all afternoon refreshing the ballroom, have him appear once, and promptly lose. Every single day since this began. I'm about in tears this is so frustrating!

@Chazezmom Event occurs on the dance floor. Yes you must go to the dance floor each time. It's random when it comes up.
I've gotten him 5 times. (4 times on Tuesday, none yesterday and 1 so far today). I've lost to him every time. LOL
He plays a rock scissors paper kinda game but with swords so you just choose different swords.

I can also FINALLY confirm, that after 3 days and 400+ dances, I got the event two times in 5 dances, lol. One lost, one won, so now I can sleep.
So I just have to credit public bitching for the win...I complained here in the wee hours of the morning, went to sleep for a bit and when I got back online, I got the pop up event for this on my 4th dance and this time I finally beat him! And I was on my phone, which I had thought may have been part of the issue not getting the event yesterday, so it works from touchscreen devices too apparently in case anyone else was paranoid abt that like me.

I've lost four times, never even beat him in a single round once. At best, I've tied him. I've been trying on and off all afternoon and have yet to get another challenge. This is really getting tiring. I want to go back to dancing without having to babysit the Ballroom on some 2x random chance game. So I echo others' sentiments--is this broken atm?

after going through well over 100 dances at the least within the past 24 hours, and checking the dance floor every time, im legit contemplating on whether or nor actually going to the dance floor is even worth it at this point because i havent even seen him hanging around in the back of the dances as an onlooker. how the hell have people gotten him more than once?

Getting to the 300+ dance mark with still no challenge. This sounds like a cool idea but is very frustrating.

I was worried when I saw people asking if this was broken but I just got the event. My first one!
Adding my voice to those asking "is this broken?" Because I got the pop up event 3 times Tuesday night (and somehow managed to lose all 3 times...bleh), but haven't seen him at all on Wednesday and I've been requesting tons and accepting buttloads too (going to the dance flor for all of them too). So is it broken or are the odds reeally that terrible that I didn't get it once in well over 200 dances?
Is any of the staff gonna comment on why it seems near impossible to get this event today? I've also been trying for hours and gotten nothing, and my dance partner only got him once yesterday.

I gotta say, Im pretty disappointed. I read below we'll have a few chances to get the achievements for this, so I've spent hours today trying to get him to show up. I'm not refreshing, Im clicking the event, accepting each dance then going to the dance floor. It shouldn't be this tough to get him to cut in.
Also; I don't know if this has anything to do with it but everytime I go to the dance floor instead of there being six dancers in the background (three on each side) there are only five (three on one and two on the other) and it's always the left side that only has two.
I got him a total of two times...and both times was yesterday. Today. after 200+ dances, not once.
I have the achievements from yesterday, but I would still like to get some trinkets.

I got three of these events yesterday, all within a decent time frame of each other, and I've gone through a few hundred dances in a row today but haven't seen him once. Is he broken?
Okay I haven't gotten a single duel with him today and I have been dancing for hours. I don't find this to be fun and the worst part is I keep seeing him IN the ballroom but I don't get a duel notification???
Once u get the winning achievement u don't get him again? I wanted to lose too and get that achievement but I don't get the dueling anymore. Just once

I got him 4 times before the news came out...2 losses, 2 wins. And none show up on my achievements page!
well over 150 dances and im still waiting on the random event for that battle on the dance floor

Ok, I've gotten the RE FOUR times now and every time I either get the blank page or I get the error message. I haven't even managed to see the dueling page. When can this be fixed?

@Dragonfae Didn't mean to sound like I was calling you stupid, sorry! The news post isn't really clear and a lot of people have been confused by what they're supposed to do. :D (I was all excited for a battle challenger, but nope. Rock, paper, scissors with swords.) Hopefully the odds of getting the RE are reasonable, and the bugs are worked out soon!
@Gunnarr I don't mean to sound rude, but I'm not totally daft. In fact after coming online to over 70 dance events this evening it took me forever to get through them because of the extra move to the dance floor lol. Either way, whether it's been an event for "Your dance request has been accepted" or one to accept a dance, I've been going to the dance floor afterwards. I even turned off my Ad Blocker just in case that was affecting it, and yes, I'm also wearing the Enamored expression :/

It would be really nice to actually SEE him crop up. I came online tonight to over 70 dance events and didn't get him once. I've since also done maybe another 50 or so dances over the past 3 hours or so and still haven't seen him and yet other people are getting multiple events from him. Not happy Jan! :(

Can someone help me out? Am I doing something wrong? I've been dancing continuously since this post was published (that's 9.5 hours of dancing now) and I haven't seen him once. I dance, accept, go to the ballroom, and nothing happens. Is this just bad luck? :(

Finally bumped into Boudewijn and beat him with a rapier. Gave him a good throttling before sending him scurrying off.

Oh gawd, online since this news post popped up and only got him once. I'm wishung really bad to fight him again, so I can dance normally, with F5 to accept dances, without needing to visit everytime the dancefloor lol

I am also having the issue with clicking the challenge option and getting "Oh No! User not found: [npc] Gossip Boudewijn hasn't asked you to dance!" This has happened three times, one of those times I actually got to the pick a weapon part, when I clicked the weapon, I got the error message again.

I too thought he would be a battle challenger. Though I guess I will have to make a joke about that in my next Tumblr guide. A douche like him probably would have been a ridiculously easy challenger anyway.

If you keep going to the dance floor after every dance (both asking and accepting), you'll eventually see a pop-up with a message about Boudewijn cutting in. Select the red "no" option and it'll take you to the duel screen. Just keep clicking on one of the swords until it tells you you've won or lost.

so I challenged to a duel and get nothing but a blank page. with only the sidebar, tabs and site info..nothing with the duel game

I read that dancing also increases the chance of the event. But we need to be on the dance floor to receive the RE, so... @Amber If I go to the dance floor 50 times (once after everytime I dance/accept dances) or if I go there only once after dancing 50 times, do I have the same odds of getting the RE?

How high/low are the odds you guys are experiencing, give or take? I just came home from work, got 30-something invitations and acceptances waiting for me, went to the dance floor on each one, and nothing?
I feel as though the RE frequency needs to be majourly increased. I've been trying for an hour since this started and no RE XS It's turned from fun to frustrating really quickly

If you get him, you'll know. There's a pop up event that gives you the option to fight or step aside. :)
Hells yeah, caught him already. Just gotta have a vigilant dance partner and stalk those floors.
Random event achievements aren't all that fun. Hope we get some more new achievements that require skill/sp/anything but luck.

Just got him a second time and guess what? The page it takes me to is friggin BLANK (yes I clicked on challenge him).
I was so excited for 30 seconds when I thought he was a BC opponent. This is pretty cool too, and more fair I guess for the people who don't train their pets. But I always hope for battling during site events, so fingers crossed we get to do some REAL dueling!

Just dance with people, guys! You'll get the event while dancing :) He isn't someone you literally fight (like a challenger), you just play a quick paper/rock/scissors like game with him ;)

He's not a battle challenger, guys. You go to the dance floor and get a popup saying he wants to duel you for your dance partner and you either let him cut in or you fight him. if you fight you're taken to a page where you have to choose between 3 swords and then there's like 2 rounds or something and you either win or lose
Does he only popup when you accept dance requests, or also when you send them? I'm competing in a contest, so I'm sending tons of requests but not receiving very many ^^;
