Mysterious Jollin
Breaking news: people are reporting a strange jollin sneaking around the bonfire. A few people have even claimed to have seen him steal items just as they were being tossed into the fire.
It is currently unknown if the jollin poses a larger threat and, as such, we advise you all to be on your guard.
Notice: When you unlock this challenger, you'll find him under your 'event' tab at the battle coliseum challenger page! These tabs are a new thing, so enjoy looking between. :)

@Archimedes Nah man, it's more like... I'm afraid to try to get a Harvest Potion while this guy is around because there's a good chance I'll lose my Glade Potion instead. That's... about 12mil sP for just the pitcher, or 1000 Wizard Tokens if you're lucky enough to catch a restock. Can't really say that's "ingratitude" there.

He stole three things before I got the Event, after that, so far no more steals. :) Tried battling him, but losing everytime. D:
Not a battler, so I guess I sit this fireside out and just collect my findings rather than try to toss them into the bonfire.

Well, way to make it so I don't get any of the items I wanted for this event. He's stolen literally a dozen items in a row from me.
I don't think I could beat him (maybe once, but not five times), but I wouldn't really want to. He's so ADORABLE omg. Look at that FACE.

Ya know... this stops being cute when every item that has tossed in so far has been stolen by this joker. Makes me almost want to avoid this event now.

If you see him, are you supposed to automatically unlock him? I'm guessing I can't fight him anyway, but wondering. And sorry if that's already been asked, there are so many comments to go through Lol :)
@sheogorath use dark % potions, throwing vials, pylonics, and scrolls. None of those things are steal-able. Put crap weapons in your Armory on the odd chance that he will use one of your stolen crap weapons to attack you with. If you pet is strong enough get the Shrines of Nukum and Azzagga. Set them off on the first turn and he will automatically take damage on subsequent turns. Since he can only take two weapons per turn, maybe add two bombs and use those on the second turn if you've still got them.
He stopped stealing my stuff but refuses to show up in my event challenger tab. So typical. Seriously, if I'm not hit by every single bug on here my life is not complete, I should receive an own corner in the Help Ticket Center to make things easier, lol goes to make another ticket

Ah, a nice mid level challenger. Stopped after battling him with 16 of my pets, got bored so guess the rest will have to try another time. He's also got really pretty markings.
I unlocked him as a challenger, but he is not showing up for me either. I also unlocked the Mage, but now he is gone...? =/

so i threw in several items, got challenged by the jollin but he is not showing up in my challengers list, and now when i go to the bonfire he is gone :/ Anyone else have this problem ?
Oh, you silly thief. He gave my pet Kira a good fight on the 10th battle. Kept getting all my weapons stolen so I had to bring out a scroll other than my healers. Then my pet Princess whopped him with no need to use the scroll. <.< Kira is stronger than Princess... lmao

If he's not on your challenger list, you probably don't have him yet. Just keep donating until you get him. It's possible for it to take a few times before he actually challenges you.

Regarding the potions
Yes, the autumn theme is the one that is unlocked by throwing 1,000 items into the bonfire.
This guy is kind of tough because even if you're strong enough to beat him, he can steal your weapons and leave you with nothing to fight him with. But yes, if you don't want to battle then you don't have to. Once you get him as a challenger, he'll stop stealing your items and you can go about your bonfire business as usual.

Huh, cool, can't wait to fight him...but he stole like six of my offerings in a row and then disappeared. I didn't see an event that i got him, but it sounds like i did since he no longer seems to be interfering with the bonfire. But he's not on my opponent page...and yes, i've checked the Event tab. I've checked ALL the tabs, and hard-refreshed, and waited a few minutes...he's just not there.

certain weapons are very helpful against him, I think water and a couple other icons go through well so you may need to switch up your battle set against him for more wins :) congrats!

My pet is Tier 10 but I think I'm going to train a lot more before I go for further battles, or at least learn more about battling. I thought for sure I was going to lose. My lantern is back as you said it would be. I was amazed at what it dropped after 1 win!

My pet is Tier 10 but I think I'm going to train a lot more before I go for further battles, or at least learn more about battling. I thought for sure I was going to lose. He stole three of my items then stopped stealing my items. I didn't get an event and I checked in the battle coliseum under the events tab, and he is not there. :/
Syrax beat him 5 x and he dropped Sneak Thief Pick Set and Sneak Thief Reliable Satchel! Going to battle with the other guys now and see how they due!
@Marko if it's not stealing your offerings anymore, you do indeed have it as a challenger. Challengers in the Battle Colosseum are now Tab-bed. This challenger is under "event".
I have a couple of questions. One has to do with people talking about throwing potions into the fire. I'm not familiar with this. What can we get if we throw potions in, and what sorts of potions?
And the autumn background? Is that the prize for throwing in 1000 things, I can't get that to load on the achievement page.
Also, I'm not a battler, my strongest pet is only tier 4, so is it worth it to try to battle this guy? If I don't want to battle, can I just ignore the challenge and go on with tossing stuff, after he steals a few things and challenges me?

to unlock him, just move the lantern to your inventory, click it, and there should be a use option. that will unlock him.
if you can beat him once, you get the lantern back via achievement.

I know there are different effigies but didn't make the right connection.
I have that lantern, it's in my vault though. How do you unlock 'the tormented'? Does it have to be during Fireside? If it's really difficult I'd probably need to train for another year if it's only during Fireside.

He dropped plenty of stuff to throw into the bonfire, far more than he stole from me originally. And dropped a Thief Tear Crystal too. I'm going to see how my other boys do in battle - is that a smirk on his face?
I also unlocked him as a challenger (he appeared on the 4th steal), but he's not in the opponents list. Do I need to clear cache or something? Or does he not appear if you haven't fed your pet yet? (My inventory is too full for food atm.)

I hope this is temporary. It's hard enough trying to get the new Fireside items when you either getting the stupid blessing, and items you already have
Oh my God this guy's a riot! On the 5th battle he stole my Forest Blade so I used my KT Ring and stole my blade back from him. On the next hit he stole my Sentinel! Thank God I won on that hit! I've won 5, is it worth it going on to 10?

Well that's crummy - he steals my offerings every time and I still need to get burned two more times AND I got him as a challenger, but when I clicked the link to go to the challenger page, he's not there. Matter of fact, MOST of my opponents aren't there. sigh
