The HP culling at the very end makes sense, actually! :)
It's a competition to see, for each tier, who can deal the most damage during an elapsed time. You'd want 'endless' amounts of HP so that no one kills the boss before the allotted time is over (taking away the opportunity for others in that round). If you changed the starting HP based on the first round, then a difference in the next users battling could cut the six hours short (people with stronger pets kill the boss faster, more users online in the next round, etc). Once time is up (15 minutes left), you force the battle to end by culling it so there are almost no points left. Everyone gets the same amount of time, and therefore the same opportunity to score damage.
If we were comparing to see which wave of users killed the boss faster, I could understand needing to limit HP to something reasonable and starting there. But since it's time-based instead of victory-based, this way was great :P

Was asleep so I missed the battle but I just thought I'd note here that the art has been amazing for this plot. Not only with the bosses (and holy moly are they gorgeous) but also with the rooms too. Thank you for putting so much effort into making it so lovely!

Well, not sure exactly how it will go, but last boss battle, every tier had its top winners who got prizes and I suspect it will be the same way this time around. That tier 8 you mention is competing against the other tier 8's, not your tier 3. Your tier 3 might actually have a better chance of winning.

I'm glad the battling is over especially because I somewhat managed to fight all the bosses, but I honestly would have preferred to do so without the final nerfing. I mean, after the first guardian you should have been able to see how much damage users would deal after 6 hours and decide the number of HPs accordingly... oh well, like I said I'm glad it's over! Let's go toss someone into a vulcano! g

i wish they'd have split tiers up more. like my pet is tier 3 and having to fight it out with a tier 8 pet is very shitty. i know i'm not going to end up with amazing prizes. :(

Not a glitch! It's over :) And yes, we WAY overestimated on how much HP these guys would need on a 6 hour fight. Dearie me.

she definitely got nerfed. it took like 10 hours to do 160mil damage. there was no way we'd beat her by the end of the day.

Now that's what I call bad luck 5/6 times I got the complete block with one of my pets. I wanted only a tad bit of damage done with him for the sake of participation and focus on other pets, but still - meh. The other ones are doing fine though, as far as possible. :P

no, of course initially I did not go to the tomb, why should I, lol. After all I had unlocked the boss the other night after solving the puzzle. But at 1.30 my time I called it a day planning on battling the 2nd one a bit.

@Orchipea Okay, thanks for that information. Shouldn't make a difference then. I was afraid it was out for like an hour or more before 2 am. Because that would have sucked.
All in all, I think the boss times have run fairly. Small bumps, but nothing major. Definitely was nice to have someone on staff on at 2 am subeta time fixing the glitched boss. I expected it to be fixed later in the day so pleasant surprise. c: Kudos to staff.

To add to what @BoaConstrictor is saying, I logged on 2am subeta time to find the 2nd boss having minimal hp left. I don't know how long it was glitched for but it somehow got activated with low hp. It got defeated shortly after 2 am with a few minutes gap before the real 600mil hp 2nd boss was activated ~ 2:17 am.
Losses against the glitched bosses do count from what we've been told if I read right.
I'm curious as to how long the glitched 2nd boss was out. The glitched 3rd one was barely out before it got fixed again. :s Not so sure about the 2nd.

Yes, you're right about its lasting almost 6 hours then - I got my maths wrong there, my bad, sorry. I somehow stupidly imagined 6 hours would be right until before the 3rd one came out.
Yet @Beren says it was only around until 6 or 7 - anyway, not long enough for me to get some more wins in. But don't cry over spilled milk....

Because hardly anyone thought about going to the tomb again - you told people now for the 3rd one, which most people will probably spend the most time on. With the first one it was obvious, because it only appeared after we had solved the puzzle. But every other boss clone always had just respawned in the BC before.
I logged on 7.40 my time, which is 1.40 Subetan. Around 2 as scheduled I started to stalk the BC for the 2nd boss. Never made its appearance. Later I read on a thread, that there had been problems with #2, but they had been resolved. Still no challenger in the BC. Until finally half an hour later it dawned upon me to check the tomb for more information. So I "unlocked" #2 with an hour long delay, just as I really had to leave house, even though I had made it a point to be there for its arrival, knowing today I would have hardly any time for battling.

@SpectrumSurfer - this high HP total was to ensure we could leave our users to hack away at the boss and be able to calculate who does the most damage over a 6 hour period - we chose a high number simply because we wanted to be sure we were overshooting a bit (it ended up being way higher than we predicted, but better than it being lower!) As long as you can take off any HP at all, you're helping a bit! (And will get an achievement)
@Tribunal - From what I know, they're the same but different. Same amount of strength/defence/speed but I think they deal different icons so that somebody couldn't spend the first battle figuring out the perfect combos and then have an advantage in the final battle. I did think they had similar blockers, but I couldn't be totally sure on that, definitely a question for the battle admins there.

I like the challengers but I think 600,000,000 HP is excesive. Even the other challengers don't have that much.

@forcryinoutloud - This boss will be manually HP dropped at around 3:45 Subeta time. This is to ensure a battle time of around 6 hours, similar to the other bosses (but still allow a 'final blow' from one lucky user) - and to ensure we can carry on to the next stage of the plot without people feeling they have to battle for over 20 hours. (So battle now!)
Okay, I at least did some damage and will presumably get that achivement. Now to just keep hitting it in a vain attempt to get more loot, lol.
The HP on the temple guardian is going down very slowly - will this opponent actually be left as is, taking as long as it takes, even if it's beyond the six hours, or will the rate of HP loss suddenly decrease toward the end of the six hours like the others and it be defeated faster than it would otherwise be? I have some stuff I have to do but don't want to come back in a couple of hours to find it's already been defeated. I'll put off the stuff I have to do if that's the way it's going to be.

Tried a few blows. Killed beyond death each time. T_T I don't think this is good for my pet's self-esteem.
Can't wait to see how this ends! The artwork is so promising! Now that we can battle again, I'm all into this :)

Also, the prizes are designed around even lower-tier pets fighting. It's top per tier, and each boss can only count (per one of your pets) once!

3x the prizes, meaning the 'top damage rewards' are given per each boss**** I woke up to check on this boss and realized I ate some words there.
Given all the shenanigans I hope y'all just bite the bullet and give 3x the prizes, each per boss. Seems the only real fair way. More good weapons our, yes. Devaluing them (but if they're as good as they should be, not much - plus the split tiers already helps with that).
sigh I've just now gotten over 10K in damage. I'd like to be top in my tier, but I'm guessing my tier is kind of full.

@Wicca Forgive me if I'm being redundant, but this is the only way I know to help:
1. Click the 'See Results' after your battle is over and stay on the 'You Lose :(!' page.
2. Open up the Healing Abode in a new tab and heal your pet.
3. Then you can now click 'Fight This Opponent Again!' and your pet should have no problems showing up.
If that doesn't work, you'll have to keep going back to the 'Challenge an Opponent' page to see your pet quickly.

I love the art work so much (kinda reminds me of that one ancient Tomb Raider game, yay) but the constant use of Stonewall is mildly annoying.
@Wicca I keep having that same problem so you're not alone. My battle pet is in the Inn, so he's good to go on happiness and food. When the battle ends I click the button to see the result, switch tabs, heal him, then go back and press fight again. He doesn't appear on my list. I have to leave the page and go back to it to get him to appear, and I agree it's annoying.

I only have a Tier 2 pet, but I can do 120 damage per battle so I will keep on healing and keep on trying!

My battle pet is happy (10/10) and well fed (10/10), though the page keeps saying he's not. Refreshing doesn't help, sometimes going back to the tomb to click on the boss helps, but that's getting seriously annoying.

@Wicca I think the problem may be that after every battle, your pet has 0 HP and you have to keep healing it. That is just how boss battles are. Every time you lose, you must go back to heal to keep fighting.

The main opponent select page will tell you why your pet cannot battle. It will say either "Hungry Pets" or "Unhappy Pets". Or if a pet is stuck in a battle it will say that and you can click the link to finish the fight.

Ah, bummer. Okay. Thanks @Jess. Perhaps when this is over, if you can and would like to help me out a bit with what I might be doing wrong or need to upgrade, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Why does the Battle page keep saying I have no pets eligible for battle, while I've already healed my pet? This keeps happening a lot (and it's getting a little annoying). I think I'm out.
@MissEventful It is possible, unfortunately. The boss has the ability to do a 'full block' (100 icons of each). Activating curses from your weapons is usually about the only way around this.
Annoyed. I know I have a weak pet... I just don't quite understand how I did 0 damage. Is that even possible?

Glitched too... good job Subeta staff; people have things to do and stuff to be getting on with. We don't have time to wait around and try do damage to one of these bosses when they get killed unexpectedly because of glitches.

@BoaConstrictor - I wasn't here for the second one (UK/asleep) but I was told it started at 2:15am after a problem with the first one? And ended at around 8am, which meant it lasted 5:45 hours. The first one came with the puzzle step, so lasted about the same I believe. We announced the times of the boss releases beforehand and so didn't put the second one as a news item, but after feedback we gave a news alert for the third one.

My poor little tier 2 pet can only do about 154 damage but we're punchin' and bitin' anyway. XD
Attacking the guardian and only dealing 2000-3000 damage means i will have to fight it 300000 times in a row to be able to get the hp down.

Very bad timing for the bosses this time. At 1 am I should be in bed, at 8 am every normal person heads off to work at the latest and 6 hours later they have not returned home from work yet. And with you ending each of the battles so soon, too soon, or breaking the challengers, which no one knows, they are even released yet...
The few battles I managed to squeeze in this morning won't even get me into mid tier prizes.
Very bad timing for the bosses this time. At 1 am I should be in bed, at 8 am every normal person heads off to work at the latest and 6 hours later they have not returned home from work yet. And with you ending each of the battles so soon, too soon, or breaking the challengers, which no one knows, they are even released yet...
The few battles I managed to squeeze in this morning won't even get me into mid tier prizes.
