Actually, it's not unheard of to have instruments in the library! The one I used to work at had a special story time every so often where a few members of the local orchestra came and played sound effects to go along with the story the librarian read. Then they played a couple of short pieces afterward. The kids really enjoyed it :D
Libraries are typically quiet, yes, but sometimes - during the summer, especially - they can be quite lively!
